Happy Birthday United States Army!
We are quite excited about being chosen for the site for this exhibition. We are offering any organization that supports the community to have a chance to showcase their work at this event. Contact Olivia at [email protected] for further details.
I will also be there to host our VFW 2199 Membership Drive.
Hope to see you there!
Thanks to Chris from Omega Plumbing Heating and Cooling, for doing the rest of the dig down to the water piping. Digging in water and wet clay was no easy task. The break is under the concrete foundation so that will require cutting in the floor from inside the garage. Thanks again to Bob Fox, and his crew from Omega Plumbing Heating and Cooling, for there continuing support.
For further information contact us at [email protected]
Brian has been a volunteer doing our lawn work for the past 2 years. Thanks for all you do!!
Another great volunteer who really helps including repairing our lawn mower is Allied Nursery on Rt53. Please go there for your landscaping needs. They are truly amazing people.

Come Hungry!
I got down to 4 foot by the foundation. It looks like the break is under part of the footing and under the foundation. This is beyond my ability, I’m 76, I want to see 77.
Time to find more help.
A remarkable achievement!
Bill had been and still is one of our most valued members. From being post commander to post quartermaster and lead honor guard for 31 years. Starting in July, I will be taking over as post quartermaster. Bill was thinking of doing this before stopping next year but there’s a lot to learn so having him around would be better for the post.
Over 30 years working with WW2 members that looked down on Vietnam veterans, which was Bill, was no easy task. It took a long time to turn things around, but with his help and others they did it. Great Job Bill
Thanks to everyone for a wonderful day. The weather was perfect and even had a WW 2 plane fly over when we did our post presentation. (I had no idea it would happen but it was timed perfectly) Thanks to whoever made this happen .
A busy weekend this Memorial Day at VFW 2199.
This Sunday we will be closed, Monday Memorial Day we will be open from 11am to 6 pm.

The VFW requires us to do community service, as such, I’m doing the “We Honor Veterans” program with Lightways Hospice.
We need volunteers to make these presentation flag box that is presented to a veteran during a pinning ceremony. Any veteran or family member of a veteran can contact Lightways for this service. Lightways will pay (within reason)for the materials and supply the flag .
If you’re interested, email, Skip at [email protected]
At VFW 2199, we’re hiring and looking for people that want to do community service.
Summer is here and a great many things are going to happen. Be part of the fun while supporting our veterans and the community!
Day 2 “The Dig”
Drained the area and came closer to the break then it quickly started to fill up again from the supply line that was still full of water. Had to stop and the weather is not cooperating. First the heat and now comes the rain. Back at it Wednesday. Larry our new commander got a gutter deflector to prevent the gutter from getting more water in the hole.
First day dig.
Bob and I, mostly Bob, got close to the break. I’ll be back on Monday to pump out the water that still draining from around the foundation.
Thanks so much for Bob for all your help.
We need your help
Our water line to the Dugout broke just outside of the building. Julie showed were everything is and determined the water line is 4 foot down next to the foundation. I’m looking for some help for the digging. Since this is on private property there’s no problem doing it.
If you are available, please email me at [email protected]
I plan to start tomorrow morning.

Our Veterans have protected us, now we must protect them and their cemetery!! Join Stone City VFW along with many other veteran organizations in our fight to protect Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery from NorthPoint Development. Joliet City Council is set to vote to annex thousands of acres — five times the size of Midway Airport — for NorthPoint’s warehouse trucking facility along Route 53, putting tens of thousands more trucks daily very near our cemetery. That’s just Phase 1. We are asking all veterans to stand shoulder to shoulder with those who serve and our heroes buried there to protect our graves from trucks getting lost, driving over graves and disturbing our funeral processions. Come out Tuesday March 3, at 6:30 pm at Joliet City Hall, 150 W. Jefferson Street, Joliet. When Stone Ciry Commander reads our letter of opposition, we ask all veterans to stand. Please wear your post hats or other veteran attire. Also, our Stone City Post is also in jeopardy because trucks prevent cars from reaching us.
