You probably know someone, and if you don’t know them, they probably know you. There’s a lot of us who haven’t carried babies in our wombs. Who can count in the 40’s and 50’s the number of periods we have had since “trying” to get pregnant. ...even so, I am a Momma. Adoption changed everything for me. But my empty womb is still a thing, still part of who I am, physically, emotionally and mentally.
With the gift of Lucia, her grubby little hand in mine, I have begun the hard work of learning to love my body as it is. And I’ve begun to believe in it and it’s ability to grow and sustain life. Lucia is brave and is challenging her world and it’s boundaries every single day. I’m taking some cues, and doing the same for myself.
If you’re struggling today, take heart. I see you. I feel you, girl. And I will also be avoiding the gram with you on Mother’s Day.
