My father in law was a geophysicist. He truly loved his work. He would put on his suit everyday, even when traveling to the office meant walking just 12ft down the hall. He collected a few marble eggs from his travels around the world. Nana would gather them at Easter and place them in a bowl at the table. She enjoyed him and the grandchildren playing with them and discovering Gramp’s stories. I started adding to their collection and seeing him light up as he identified each new addition. Today, I add to the story in my own home. Watching my grandson discover each one and picking his favorites. Moments of history passed one to the other. Present, even if just in memory and story. Happy Easter Chuck.

Foral detail of the always beautiful Thanksgiving Cactus Blossom! Often mistaken for a Christmas cactus, they are very similar. You will notice the Thanksgiving cactus has lobed leaves with two points on each side vs the longer almost smooth sides of the Christmas Cactus.

This beautiful lamp was given to me a few years ago from my sweet mother in law. She and I shared the same favorite color, celadon. This lamp had lived in her home and I was an admirer. What you can’t see from a distance is the amazing glass work revealing the most delicate koi fish swimming happily around the base. I’ve tried to share them and all the little details that make this piece so special. Thank you Nana.

Still trying to update the shade. Not quite sure if this is a keeper yet 😂

One year ago Houston was covered in a blanket of snow. No electricity and for this girl, boredom. But also a rare opportunity! Armed with a warm coat and some beautiful Royal Daulton china, I set out to create a winter wonderland garden party. Today, a year later, it is 34 degrees and cold to be sure, but feeling grateful we are not reliving last year’s winter storm.
