O P T I O N S

Not all envelopes are created equal. Some are thick with tight fibers that make the perfect canvas for pointed pen calligraphy but others aren’t as generous and refuse the ink by causing it to bleed. When pointed pen calligraphy isn’t a match for your envelopes, brush calligraphy is a great option!

Elopement weddings are becoming a trend. Couples are leaving the traditional way of sharing their vows amongst family + friends and turning to a more intimate, simplistic ceremony with no audience.

I’m so thankful for the opportunity to create this announcement. Although simple in style, the process taught me valuable lessons about stationery.

Once learned, boundaries can be broken and pushed and redefined. Art is a world of its own. There is so much freedom in creativity.

Hi! I’m Brooke! I’m the girl behind the pen. I’m based out of Knoxville, Tennessee where I live with my family. I’m married to the hottest redhead around, who is the true artist out of the two of us, and we have three treasured little kiddos. I’m a lover of Jesus, who transformed my life at 21 years old, and I live to share of His goodness. I’m also a California native, born and raised.

As far back as I can remember, I have always been drawn to art. When I was a little girl my favorite thing to do was plop myself down on my bedroom floor to sketch the pictures out of my Precious Moments books and I wouldn’t budge until I got those teardrop eyes just right (any fellow perfectionists out there?!). Throughout the years I have dabbled in a variety of creative hobbies from acrylic painting to sewing to repurposing antique jewelry and so much more. In 2018 I decided to take on a new creative challenge and learn calligraphy. There were many aspects I enjoyed about the art of calligraphy but one of the biggest draws was the methodology to it. It’s not just freehand, pretty writing as most assume. Calligraphy holds intentionality and purpose with every little stroke. There are rules that have to be followed to achieve the beauty of this art. For this perfectionist and rule-follower, it was the perfect creative outlet.

Now, what was once a hobby is now a business venture bringing thoughtful details to once-in-a-lifetime moments.

There are many options when it comes to selecting wedding + event signage. Acrylic sheets are one of many and come in a variety of sizes. They can be as small as an es**rt card, directing your guests to their table, or as large as a welcome sign, elevating the experience of your guests arrival. You can keep them clean and simple (as shown above) or add a splash of color to the back to tie into your color palette.

L I F E.

I love eucalyptus. (As does everyone else. All you have to do is search Pinterest for wedding bouquet ideas to learn that.) But it truly is so gorgeous. I purchased this beautiful bunch to use for my photo shoot awhile back. When I asked the florist how to keep them alive and vibrant through the heat, she told me to give them plenty of water because eucalyptus is always thirsty. So that's just what I did and they thrived.

Now every time I come across eucalyptus I think of their constant need to draw from the well and it’s a sweet reminder of my ongoing need for my source of life -> Jesus. I want to be thirsty for Him each and everyday so that I can be fully and completely satisfied in Him.

John 4:14: "..but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

Learning to make custom wood signage took many months of practice upon practice upon practice to find a method that worked best for me. I spent so many hours learning how to create wood signs by gleaning from respectable calligraphy teachers and putting what I have learned to practice all to realize that the most profitable form of learning is from my own experience…and mistakes. Trial. Error. Repeat.

Beauty has the power to pause time for a moment and captivate us. Even something as simple as an envelope can steal the spotlight and capture our attention.

When was the last time you walked to your mailbox and were captivated by an envelope? Maybe never.

Calligraphed envelopes don’t just offer beauty but show intentionality on behalf of the sender and adds anticipation to the note or invitation inside. It’s an experience worth considering when event planning!

I’m not sure who gets creative credit for the idea of hand lettering a wedding seating chart on a mirror but kudos to whoever you are. These are gorgeous! But seating charts aren’t your only option when it comes to mirrors. They can be used for a variety of different wedding + event signage including welcome signs, table signs and more!
