The bridges of Venice.
There are 417 bridges in Venice, 72 of which are private bridges.
There are 300 bridges built in stone, 60 in iron, the remaining 57 in wood.
The last bridge built in Venice was the one designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava (Constitution Bridge, installed in August 2007 and opened without inauguration on the night of September 11, 2008) which is the fourth bridge that crosses the Grand Canal and connects Piazzale Roma with the railway station.
In ancient times the bridges in Venice did not have steps as until the 16th century it was allowed to cross them on horseback.
There are only two bridges in Venice that do not have parapets, one is located in Torcello and is called Ponte del Diavolo, another (private) is visible in Rio di San Felice (near the Scuola Grande della Misericordia).
