GENERAL INFORMATION: Located at 1704 Hardy Street in Lecompte, Louisiana. This is a historic building. Do not place anything directly against the brick walls as they are very fragile. Absolutely nothing can be attached to woodwork, plaster and brick walls, fireplace, mantel, light fixtures, or ceilings. No tacks, staples, nails, tape of any kind, etc., may be used to insure preservation of this historical site. When setting up the room, nothing can be placed in front of the air-conditioner return. No smoking is allowed inside the building at any time. No candles can be used unless contained, no silk flower petals scattered, no generators can be connected inside or outside if for unforeseen reason the power is shut off.
CLEAN-UP: All cleanup, disposing of food, paper products, etc., are the responsibility of the renter. Trash bags will be provided. No confetti, glitter, rice, or birdseed is allowed. Please clean up spills immediately.
All or part of your Cleaning Deposit may be refunded if Smith’s is properly cleaned
described as:
1. Chairs should be stacked 3 high and placed with a 12-inch clearance from the brick walls. (See photo instructions.)
2. Do not stack chairs in front of windows or the air-conditioner return.
3. Tables are to be wiped clean and returned to where they are stored in the hall; the six -6-foot tables in front, with the two 8-foot tables behind them against the wall. The two round tables stay up in the main reception room. (See photo instructions.)
4. Refrigerator and/or stove/oven emptied and wiped down (any food left will be discarded.)
5. Wipe down kitchen counter surfaces. Wipe out the kitchen sink.
6. All floors are to be swept cleaned, including kitchen, and bathroom; tile areas mopped if needed.
7. ONLY A DRY DUST-MOP may be used on the wooden floor. Exception: clean all spills immediately.
8. Inside garbage cans emptied into garbage bags provided. Inside garbage bags are to be put in outdoor garbage cans with lids closed (located behind the building). We provide cans for garbage only. Please do not leave cans overflowing.
9. Break down cardboard boxes to fit inside of trash cans or take large cardboard boxes or other items that do not fit into garbage cans with you for disposal.
10. All balloons filled with confetti, or any other fillers must be cleaned up from the premises (including the grounds) completely or you will forfeit your cleaning deposit. If you use balloons for decorations, please be sure you pop all balloons outside and place them in garbage bags before placing them in trash cans.
11. Set thermostat to __76°_.
12. Any outside decorations or trash is picked up and properly disposed of including cigarette butts (sand bucket provided in parking area); absolutely NO SMOKING is permitted inside the building.
13. Close all the shutters.
14. Turn off lights and lock both the top and bottom lock on the door.
15. Return key to the drop box on the front of the storage shed in the parking lot.
PLEASE, NO PARKING ON THE GRASS.
DAMAGE: RENTER promises to pay for damages if any are incurred during the event.
Lecompte Garden Club will provide, to the extent available at Smith’s Landing, chairs and rectangular or round tables for use by the RENTER. Any items provided by Lecompte Garden Club and damaged at the RENTER'S function will be the liability of the RENTER.
THE PARTIES MUTUALLY AGREE AS FOLLOWS:
1. Any event is subject to the approval of the Smith’s Landing Committee.
2. Renter must be over the age of twenty-one (21).
3. Renter is responsible for directing any parking of vehicles and/or working with the police for parking if police are required for the event. Lecompte Garden Club and the TOWN OF LECOMPTE assume no responsibility for theft of items from vehicles or for losses due to traffic mishaps while vehicles are on the premises. NO PARKING ON THE GRASS.
4. RENTER agrees to hold harmless Lecompte Garden Club and the TOWN OF LECOMPTE for any liability resulting from or connected to Renter’s event.
5. CANCELLATION FEE: RENTER agrees that Lecompte Garden Club, by making this reservation, is prevented from renting to other parties; therefore, RENTER understands that by cancelling the event less than two (2) weeks prior to the date agreed upon, he/she will not be eligible for a refund of any fees other than the clean-up deposit.
6. RENTER acknowledges that any event may be terminated by Lecompte Garden Club or its duly authorized representative if any unruly behavior is noted and not immediately corrected by the RENTER. In such a case, there will be no refund of fees previously paid.
7. RENTER (or duly authorized signer) by signing this agreement, acknowledges they have the authority to do so. If the person signing is not authorized by the RENTER organization, then he/she accepts personal responsibility for all terms of this contract.
8. RENTER and Lecompte Garden Club agree to be bound by the terms of this agreement from the date of signing through the date of the event. Any unmet terms shall continue after the event date until discharged by Lecompte Garden Club.
9. I have carefully read this contract and realize that extra charges will be made if:
1. There is damage to the building or furniture, etc.
2. More guests attend than the sixty (60) allowed by the fire marshal;
3. Set-up goes beyond the allocated four hours; or the facility is not returned to the same
condition in which the RENTER or their assigns first took possession of the facility.
3. The event goes beyond the agreed upon time;
4. If applicable, the event is not concluded by 11:00 PM;
5. Cleanup is not done and/or decorations are not removed as required by this contract.
Renter will be held responsible for repairs or replacement caused by any damage due to accident, theft, or vandalism, and will be responsible for all guests, employees, or caterers and their actions during the rental, set-up, and clean-up times.
The undersigned releases the Lecompte Garden Club from all liabilities arising out of any and all activities engaged in by the participants of this event. Lecompte Garden Club also reserves the right to cancel this rental agreement and refund payments at any time due to physical or mechanical failure of the building, or natural or civil disasters. The undersigned does not hold Lecompte Garden Club responsible if any part of the building is not working due to mechanical failure and must be shut down.

Please make checks or Money Orders payable to Lecompte Garden Club. The contract will be considered null and void for checks returned for insufficient funds and no refund will be due.
IMPORTANT NOTE: SIGNED CONTRACTS & DEPOSITS NOT RECEIVED WITHIN TEN (10) DAYS WILL HAVE THEIR BOOKING DATE RETURNED TO ‘DATE IS AVAILABLE STATUS’ FOR BOOKINGS.
