It's been awhile since I've switched from my big iMac to my laptop. With that switch I lost some of my favorite actions for photoshop. I decided to splurge a little and get the one action I really wanted. It's called Painterly, and I love it. I edited these photos of my good friend's daughter (Shareena Woodlee) with it and of course lightroom. What do you think?

Traveled to Des Moines for a wedding yesterday. It was a long one, and with the 3 hour drive it made for an extra long day. I stayed at a “Holidome”. Takes me back to my childhood and I wish my family were here with me bc my kids would love the domed area!! I’m currently sitting and hoping a plane flies over the dome before I leave so I can grab a pic of it. (The airport is across the street).

I got to do a nice little family session the other day. We started with the humans. Then....we brought the dogs! I've never met dogs who love frisbees as much as these fur babies. It was *highly* entertaining watching them try to get those frisbees!! If I ever get the opportunity to do this again, I will plan better for lighting and background!

Now is a great time to book a family session for outdoor pictures! Mother's day and Father's day are coming up, and let's face it, everyone gets family photos in the fall! This year, be different!

I took my oldest to the state solo/small ensemble festival yesterday in Columbia, MO (Mizzou). It was not the outcome she had worked her tiny little bum off for. But I do find we can grow the most through adversity. I know this girl's heart. And I know how hard she worked on her solo. Sometimes we have to look life in the face and say, MOVING ON! :) So proud of my girl and all her many, many efforts this year.

I have a wedding today and we're going to be all over Kansas City! Don't tell anyone, but it's a surprise wedding!!!! I'm so open and ready for today's experience. And I have my clear umbrella ready for any photos in the rain this afternoon.

The venue was 1890 Wedding and Event space in Platte City/Tracy, MO. It was a sunset to die for. I can't show pics yet, but when I can ohhhhh boy! GORGEOUS! I highly recommend this venue for any people searching for a hilly and amazing Midwest wedding!

This retired KC Current player absolutely stole my heart last year. Jaycie Ackerman is kind and sweet and loves to laugh, and I was lucky enough to get to photograph her on her big day! My favorite memory of Jaycie on her wedding day was when she grabbed me by the hand and guided me to all the people she wanted her photo with during the reception.

Pardon the language if that’s something that is offensive. I’ve worked my entire adulthood to be at the point I’m at now. It was never easy. In fact, I had to fight my nature and change the way my brain literally thought about things. But I will now ask for what I’m worth, be it professionally, interpersonally, or just from myself. I still have many steps to take, but I’m encouraged and motivated and know my worth. To anyone struggling, you are literally never alone! So many have been/are currently at/or are just beginning the process of where you are now. Reach out to trusted people, and learn who to trust without becoming too cynical. Believe in your own power and don’t ever rely on the approval of others as your ultimate motivation. Find it in yourself!

Oh my gosh you guys. My website has been an obstacle for me. In an ideal world I would have the capital to pay a professional website developer to make the ideas in my head come to life on the web. BUT, I have to put every penny into my family! Be it cello lessons, oboe lessons, football practice and cleats, more T-shirts for every single club and activity they are in, and the gas money to get them everywhere they need to be! LIFE AS A PARENT OF TEENS, am I right?!?! So I get resourceful and creative and use the ever expanding tools that my web provider gives me so I can practice, play, create, and try again to make my website feel more like ME. Thanks Wix! :). I feel like I'm FINALLY bringing my website into the modern era and it's really FEELING more like me.

I personally prefer when we set a separate session to do the cake smash, but I will also go to the party and make everyone let me be front row to capture those first tastes of sugar.
