Yesterday's rehearsal for Vivaldi's Four Seasons was wonderful! We can't wait to present this all Baroque concert this Friday.
If it ain’t Baroque…Join LSO for an evening of Baroque masterpieces as Concertmaster Anton Miller performs Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. Maestro Polochick will conduct J.S. Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 4 from the harpsichord, and closing the program is Handel’s epic Music for the Royal Fireworks, a work originally scored for a massive wind band containing 24 oboes! (LSO’s rendition uses a much more manageable 3.)

The 10/11 Golden Apple Award winner for October 2023 is Mr. Matt Erb, a music teacher at Kooser Elementary in Lincoln.
Here they come! More than 3,000 4th-6th graders from all over Lincoln will experience Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra today as part of the Young People’s Concert series. For many, it is a first visit to the Lied and their first chance to experience a live symphony orchestra!
Thousands of 10-year-olds sang and played their recorders and danced along with the orchestra today at the Lied Center for Performing Arts 🎉
"LSO On the Double" was a wonderful concert this last Friday! Check out these photos from the concert.
Layale Chaker and Kinan Azmeh performed their composition, "Dawning" for the first time with an orchestra. They premiered the piece in Nebraska this last summer at the Nebraska Crossroads Music Festival. On Friday, October 27th, they will perform it again with the New York Philharmonic.

The Lincoln Youth Symphony joins LSO for a side-by-side performance of Beethoven’s Leonore Overture No. 3. LSO then welcomes Syrian clarinetist Kinan Azmeh and Lebanese violinist Layale Chaker to perform their recently-composed Double Concerto for Clarinet, Violin and Ensemble, co-commissioned by LSO, the Nebraska Crossroads Music Festival, and the New York Philharmonic. After intermission, LSO performs Jean Sibelius’ monumental Symphony No. 2 in D Major.

Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra seeks a part-time Operations & Library Assistant. Reporting to the Orchestra Manager & Librarian, this position will help to coordinate with the LSO artistic team and venues to ensure that the scheduling, production, and administration of all orchestra rehearsals and concerts run smoothly and effectively.
They will also assist with organizing, marking, and preparing all of the music needed for performances. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and will possess the ability to work independently and in a team setting, and will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The schedule will include an average of ten hours per week, plus additional evening and weekend hours in order to be present at all rehearsals and performances. Salary is $20 per hour. Send cover letter and resume by Monday, October 16, 2023 via email to [email protected].
