Happy independence PNG. 🇵🇬
In my village, we walk for miles to reach an aid post. We dig our own roads by hand and build our own bridges with mere timber and nails. To travel to town, we have to wake up at 3am and walk for miles to reach the only PMV that comes by twice a day. Power and water supply is indeed unheard of.
It's been 48years since Independence, 48years since the very people who lived like this rose to power. I'm sure all their villages have transformed, but only for their people and voters. Only enough to keep them in power for the next how many years. People like us are forgotten and still kept in the dark.
Ballot boxes still find its way by chopper to reach us, whilst basic Government services are still finding its way here.
