This epic team effort was a home runt! This year's Blue Diamond Gala for the Dodger Foundation was bigger than ever. We brought in lighting and power for the 400-foot tent and more. As always, we loved supporting this incredible and talented team.

We are working on this year's Adobe Max with 424 Productions finding innovative ways to bring their creative designs to light. Flashing flash back to 2023 when our Sr. Lighting Designer Curt Stahl used a variety of lighting techniques to enhance interactive experiences that engage the senses from themed music to touch through experiential activations.

Guests at this year's California Science Center annual ball traveled to Italy where they dined at a Tuscan town square for appetizers followed by a four-course plated dinner. At a secret Mona Lisa after-party guests reveled in indulgences. Lighting by our designer Lonnie Thompson added layers of nuanced warmth and texture.

Bold design + Bold lighting. We installed more than 400 lighting fixtures to light more than 65 speakers during the Upfront Summit -- a lineup of celebrities from the financial, tech, and entertainment industries who came together to discuss the future of fundraising, upcoming startups, and new technology in the industry.

Amazing! The main feature of this warehouse, which was transformed into a tropical paradise, was a custom-made chandelier cake table created by Revelry Event Design. Lit from within the hand-painted, 250 pound bronze orb was intricately designed with pulleys and lever. It hung as the centerpiece, surrounded walls pattered with gobo lighting, drapery, furniture, antique props, and real palm trees. Our lighting team ensured that guests didn't miss one moment of the experience.

This year's Upfront Summit was held at The Lot in Hollywood. The producers' intention was to bring a touch of Hollywood to the audience of more than 1,000 attendees. In addition to stars on stage, our lighting team led by Lonnie Thompson, lit the stars, the clouds and the sky for the two-day corporate event.

Lighting for a wedding at the Pasadena Convention Center illuminated the creative work by Revelry Event Designers. The event featured a bespoke truss arch and hedge panel backdrop, off-white and green velvet drapes, and ivory velvet furnishings. With prominent lighting patterns on the dance floor and 35 chandeliers, lighting delivered a sophisticated ambiance.

A Casablanca themed bash transformed an ordinary warehouse into an extraordinary tropical paradise. Lighting styled by our designer Lonnie Thompson was over the top! Gobo projections added another layer of texture to this already richly designed and luxurious event that featured velvet drapery, antique props, and real palm trees.

Rolex once again oversaw the design of the Oscars Greenroom. Located just off the Dolby Theatre's stage and used by presenters and nominees (and winners) to relax before going on stage, the room this year leaned in on the concept of calm and relaxation to create a "vegetal world." The design combined responsibly sourced materials, organic shapes and a soothing color scheme. Our Sr. Designer, Raymond Thompson worked with production designer Tony Schubert of Event Eleven to create an environment that exuded harmony and beauty.

The Grammy after-party hosted by Universal Music Group and produced by event designer Krislyn Komarov and producer Mary Hill from Organized Matter was a calm vibe for those 1,000 souls who arrived at Nya Studios in Hollywood ready to relax after the excitement of the awards telecast. The event was a study in shadow and light. This year Komarov and Hill were joined by designer Zaid Arriola for fabric elements. The design team created a multi-textured look keeping the client’s desire for environmental awareness top of mind. Found objects, upcycling and reuseable décor items all were part of the final creation.

{NEW PODCAST} What a great beginning to the week! The Wedding Biz just dropped the new podcast featuring our Lighting Designers and Jackson Flagg. Ray and host Andy Kushner discuss the “choreography of emotion” and its power to transform an event through lighting design. Jackson talks to Andy about the storytelling aspect of lighting, especially in weddings, where direction and intensity can be used to draw attention and set the tone.

The conversation also covers lighting design for everything from wedding ceremonies and cocktail receptions to dance floors and after-parties. Ray and Jackson provide insights into the importance of timing and ambience during live events, and they also touch on the role of intelligent lighting, the impact of LED technology, and the versatility of fixtures.

A snowy winter wonderland filled with gingerbread house, joy and light. Lighting Designer Ray Thompson and our team were on site for four days installing the event lighting. To create the effect of a starry sky indoors, the main tent was covered with an LED star drop. It was gorgeous but it covered all the hanging points in the tent where we would normally hang lighting.

"Instead, we found another way to install the fixtures that would light areas such as Santa Claus and the gingerbread house," Ray says. "To create an invisible structure, we installed cables pulled tight across the ceiling and affixed our fixtures to that."

Lighting this winter wonderland event was as epic as the event itself! This massive tree, built for the event, was lit in warm amber tones with a breakup pattern over the entire space. And outside, a snow hill, also built for the event, was lit in a beautiful cool blue.
The intent behind the event was to bring the gifts of the season to the guests -- joy, light and fresh design ideas (and snow)!

At the Intersection of design and lighting. The doors of Soundstage 5 were bathed in gold light and finished with a gobo logo projection. Inside, the space created by was an elegant, classic mid-century modern design with tone-on-tone shades of custom furnishings. A sunburst projection around the perimeter of the area framed a central gathering area for guests.
