Typically when people think “elopement” they think “free wedding” but you still need to plan a budget!
•
The cost of an elopement will be considerably lower than a hosted event for a number of guests, but there are still expenses involved: the marriage license, travel and accommodations, your attire, wedding bands, maybe a simple festive bouquet and boutonnière, photography and/or videography and celebratory drinks or lunch/dinner afterwards.
•
Those expenses can add up quickly so budget out what you’re willing to spend. Another tip is to NOT skimp on photography. Find someone who will capture your day beautifully and budget accordingly!

"We looked into adoption, but while we researched and attended informational sessions, we really felt like something different might be a better fit for us…And this is when we learned about foster care.⠀
We wanted to fill a need here in our community and we believe that life is valuable at every stage. So we saw a need in foster care with the children and their biological families and we hoped we could be able to provide some consistency and love. ⠀
The numbers are staggering at how many children are without homes in the US and specifically in our state of Maryland that we just became overwhelmed that more people needed to get involved. It was then that we saw foster care as a place where we could serve and hopefully one day adopt...” ⠀

The difference between your "relaxing" and "boring" isn't always immediately clear. Talk it out with your fiancé and figure out what you both really want. ⠀

Travel agents should know the right questions to ask to help figure it out. They have insider knowledge on deals and discounts and cultivate personal relationships with hoteliers, which can sometimes mean a room's suddenly available in a booked-solid hotel. ⠀

Unless you have exceptional handwriting, hiring a wedding calligrapher adds a personal and professional touch to your big day. Riley and Ko is a team of two sisters who started working together in 2015. Laura and Hannah do all types of wedding calligraphy: from envelope addressing, signs, place or es**rt cards, table numbers, to pretty much anything you can write on. ⠀

Your flower girl might run down the aisle and not throw a single petal. Your processional music may stop suddenly as you bridesmaids are walking down. The wind might make for some crazy veil pics. It's ok. Your ceremony, though it's one of the quickest parts of the day, is the most special and beautiful and doesn't have to go perfectly.⠀

You don't have to follow tradition or be professional because it's YOUR wedding ceremony! So feel free to let loose and laugh a little. After all, you are marrying your best friend and that's the most joyful thing ever.⠀

What I love about is that they not only advocate for adoptive and foster families, they also work to educate people on the reality of the orphan crisis around the world. Their hope is to truly educate people so they are inspired into action to make these statistics a little smaller. ⠀

"Today, it is estimated that there are 140 million orphans worldwide. It’s a statistic we’ve all heard. A lesser-known fact is that only 15.1 million are “true orphans,” meaning there are no living birth parents known. While this number is staggering, when viewed from an alternative vantage point, this means that 80 percent of children, worldwide, have at least one living birth parent. ⠀
⠀
This number doesn’t take into account grandparents or other extended family members willing to care for the child. Many of these children, including ones I’ve known and worked with, end up in orphanages as a result of poverty, because families are simply unable to provide for the most basic needs of the child. ⠀
⠀
This is where taking a “let’s just adopt all the children currently living in orphanages” approach to solving the orphan crisis becomes deeply and systematically complicated. There are many unintended consequences to this approach, which negatively impact the international adoption process as a whole. "⠀

was started by a husband and wife duo, Cassidy and Steven, who so evidently love people through this business. They are passionate about story telling and doing so for each couple to they give something the couple can be proud of.

Their name actually ties in what is most important to them: the simple reminder that we love because Christ first loved us. They love being able to capture marriages that represent God's love for people. I love how much fun they have shooting weddings together and the ability to make a shoot comfortable and memorable for their couples!

If you have it in the budget, consider a calligrapher to address your invitation envelopes! It looks beautiful and makes an great first impression to your guests. ⠀

If you plan to do them yourselves, take on the project in a few sittings to avoid as few mistakes as possible. While using printed labels is an easy (and affordable) option, handwriting each address is not only more formal, it's also more personal. ⠀
•⠀
This shows your guests that you want them to be at your wedding so much that you took the time to handwrite (or have a calligrapher hand-letter) their name and address on the envelope. ⠀

I am so excited about the Friday Feature today because it is one of my dear friends !! My oh my where do I even begin with this gem? She creates the most beautiful pieces to fill homes and does live paintings at weddings and event as well! "Elsie is a daughter. She is desired, wanted, treasured, cherished and so loved! Although today is just the beginning of their lives together, the Shaw's have loved this little one for far longer.

Elsie got a family that will love her unconditionally for the rest of her life no matter what! We are grateful for for loving Elsie so well during this past season of her life!

That means these past two years she has had a place to call home. A place full of other little ones to play with, fight with, and sing silly songs with." The staff at Mwana villages loves the kiddos in their care, A LOT. Today we witnessed the unconditional love that these mamas have for each kid that is living or staying at Mwana."

One of the biggest expenses with planning a wedding is the floral budget. All of those Pinterest weddings we drool over always have amazing bouquets or flowers in their decor. ⠀
•⠀
If you are looking to save in your floral budget, consider buying wholesale flowers. This means instead of booking a florist, you purchase flowers wholesale from a place like Sams Club, Trader Joe's, ect. And put the flowers together yourselves. ⠀
•⠀
Check with your reception vendor or wedding coordinator because some of them will be happy to put the florals together for you on the big day! You can also choose to have a floral design for the bigger pieces such as the larger centerpieces and put the smaller florals together yourself. ⠀
•⠀
Have a party with your bridesmaids and have each one make their own bouquet and maybe the boutonnières. You can make it fun for everyone and still save so much money in the floral department! ⠀

Happy Friday, friends! I am starting something new here called Feature Friday where I show off a different wedding vendor each Friday. I am so excited to share these incredible vendors with you who work their 🍑off to make their bride's day everything they imagined.

My first FF is ! Just by looking at her website and having even short conversations with Jenn, you can tell she is the sweetest and most genuine soul who loves what she does! That is exactly the kind of person you want to share your wedding day with! And, on top of that, her photos are absolutely beautiful!

I have to share with you all what an amazing organization is. Whitney and Nick Runyon have started this non-profit to use the power of media to end the orphan crisis across the world! They share stories of different organizations and people but overall, they share about courage. Courage to stand up and fight for the hurting kids in our world who don't have someone to care for them. ⠀

I am so proud to partner with them and commit to donating a portion of all Cakewalk Wedding sales to them! I have been directly influenced by TAP. Truthfully, their podcasts interviewing different foster moms was a huge reason why I decided I couldn't ignore the need and am in the process to foster myself! Whether you prefer a pen to paper or consider yourself a digital bride, stick to one method of organization. There are a bunch of apps, calendars, softwares, planners, and notebooks. Choose the one that works for you and commit to it through the whole planning process. This way, you know exactly where everything is when you need it!⠀

There are a million things to take care of when you're wedding planning! It can get overwhelming. I get it! So take the time to write out a weekly or monthly checklist and then take one task one at a time. You will be much more organized, productive, and relaxed!⠀
