We are famous for our egg sandwiches, the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, however, folks love all of our flavorful dishes! Our food truck is open at 4361 Main Street, Manchester Center, VT from April 15th to October 15th. We serve prepared foods with limited hours from November through March with pick up available at 53B Manchester Valley Road, Manchester Center, VT.

Amy and Gary sell Peg the Airstream!

We are so happy to announce that Jan Giejda, a local chef and family man, will be opening the airstream in the same spot in Manchester at 4365 Main Street

in the Perfect Piece parking lot!
Big Pop's Sandwich Shop will offer a rotation of made to order subs (best news ever!), fun sandwiches and salads. They will be open from 10:30am to 5pm.
(We have shared our breakfast sandwich and fried chicken recipes with Jan so we expect you will see those two AOTR favorites on his menu on occasion.)
In the meantime, Gary can now retire and Amy is booking out the summer and fall with private catered events and private cheffing.

Our Latest News

After much thought, we have decided not to open Peg the Airstream this summer. This choice did not come easily, as we really loved cooking for you all the last five years. Gary has decided to retire and Amy is going to keep on cooking. Amy's on the Road is now a catering business that is available for private parties. We can do small dinner parties in your home, cocktail parties, brunches, rehearsal dinners. small weddings and prepared meals delivered to your home.

The airstream is for sale and comes with a Ford F350 to tow it. It's a fabulous enterprise and we highly recommend getting into the business! Here is a link to one of the online listings:

We’ve got Sautéed Chicken Cutlets w Artichokes and Lemon ready to go tomorrow. There’s still time to order. 😀
The halibut just arrived and we will be poaching it with tomatoes and ginger first thing tomorrow. The turmeric-coconut rice that it’s served with is so dang good! We will be baking fresh Apple Crisp tomorrow, too. Get your orders in. Pick up tomorrow from noon to 5.

Amy’s On The Road

Chef Amy Chamberlain didn’t want to give up cooking for people when she closed her restaurant last fall. “The Perfect Wife Restaurant and Tavern” had been in business for 23 years, but had run its course for a variety of reasons including Amy wanting more family and fun time. Her son was now a teenager and the nighttime work life of a chef-owner cut into so many opportunities for Amy to see him play sports, attend dances, heck, even eat supper together. Amy loves music festivals and concerts and with pretty much all of them occurring at night or on the weekends, Amy couldn’t feed that part of her soul either.

Welcome to Amy’s new creation, “Amy’s On The Road” which will offer breakfast and lunch made in and served out of a 1968 23” Airstream “Land Yacht” trailer that has been converted into a contemporary commercial kitchen. When word got out that Amy was buying a converted Airstream and embarking on a “food-truck” offering in Manchester, a long-time friend, former Chef, and patron of The Perfect Wife called her to suggest a partnership. Gary Walker liked the idea and was looking to get back into cooking after a hiatus from his 10-year Chef stint at the Barrow’s House in Dorset. Amy liked the idea too and a partnership was born.

Amy and Gary intend on opening “Amy’s On The Road” in June in the grass lot across from R.K. Miles. (Where Sherry’s used to be.) The name is a tribute to it’s roadside location. It is also a sort of foreshadowing of how Gary is going to answer the “Where’s Amy?” question when she is off attending one of her son’s sporting activities or at a music festival.
