I hope you all had a wonderful and joy-filled Thanksgiving 🧡 As we approach Christmas, it’s easy to get caught up in the “hustle and bustle” of it all. As a Mother, you are most likely responsible for A LOT this time of year, which can bring unnecessary stress. I encourage you to look at this season differently, and with the understanding that this is a period of descent and rest, of going within our homes, within ourselves and taking in all that we have been through, all that has passed in this full year which is coming to a close... like nature and the animal kingdom around us, this time of hibernation is so necessary for our tired limbs, our burdened minds.

Our modern culture teaches avoidance at the max this time of year; alcohol, lights, shopping, overworking, over spending, comfort food and consumerism.
And yet the natural tug to go inwards as nearly all creatures do is strong. The truth is, winter is not so bitter. She is kind. She points us in her quiet soft way towards our inner self, towards this annual time of peace and reflection, embracing the darkness and forgiving, accepting and loving. Embrace this special time as we prepare to say goodbye to the last year of our lives ❤️

I will never shy away from sessions with lots of little ones! Chaos = fun right? 😄 But in all honesty, I absolutely adore family sessions with big families. The more chaos, the better!

Going into a session with your big family might feel stressful. Coordinating everyone’s outfits, scheduling around nap time, and making sure everyone has a full stomach is no easy task. But having candid and genuine photos of your little ones smiling, laughing, and hugging makes it totally worth it!

In-home newborn sessions are unique to each family. They tell your story, from the comfort of your home. No rush getting everyone out the door, making sure the diaper bag is packed and baby is strapped in the carseat. Simple and comfortable, that’s why they are one of my favorite things to photograph 🧡

A lot of people ask for wardrobe advice and I always tell them this: Mom pick an outfit with a print you love, and then pick 2-3 colors from your print and have everyone else match you. Nicole and her family get an A+ from me! 👌🏼😆

Planning outfits for your whole family for a session can be stressful! I always recommend that you pick one piece for yourself that you love, and then make everyone else match you with a Pallete of 3-4 complimenting colors. Online shopping can be difficult and disappointing when your item looks nothing like the photo or doesn’t fit right. Thrift stores are always my favorite place to start!

Secondhand clothing doesn’t have to come with a stigma. Some of my very favorite and high value items in my closet have been thrifted. Since I have a fall family session of my own coming up, I thought I’d take you along with me! Here are just a few things I liked from my local Goodwill 😊

We are currently existing and raising our children in a world where information, opinions, and “solutions” are more accessible than ever. Information overload can cause decision paralysis. You start to doubt your abilities as a parent and avoid trusting your own intuition. When certain methods of discipline, sleep training, or managing emotions fail you, you’re left feeling defeated, confused, and not good enough!

There are a lot of good resources out there to help you minimize the amount of digital information you’re exposed to. But, I think the most important thing to remember is that you were chosen to be the one and only mother of your children. You carried them inside of you, rocked them to sleep, and cared for them every day. No one on this planet knows better than you! Trust your gut, and give yourself grace as you learn and grow 💓
