Today marks one week until we move into Dandy, ready or not! It’s been just over a year since we started and five years since the plans were made. It has been everything from happy excitement to cold, unfiltered frustration – with the latter often getting the best of me.

But as much as I’d like to list how nearly every single component of the build has beaten us down or squeezed our wallet dry without warning, there’s always the underlying realization that this has been the weirdest, most lovely and unique way for our lives to change course. And just as the challenges that came with occupying a former heating company dissolved into kooky memories, so will these.

Thanks to everyone who helped us get to this point. Want to watch the kids for two months so they can finish the rest of it? 🙃

If you’ve been following our project and thought it might be taking too long, you’re not alone 🤗.
 
BUT, no sense being all negative about it – the delays are over, materials are ready, stucco is done, and the wood will be finished this week and next. Dear god I can’t wait for that lot to get cleared (also this week).
 
After that, it’s starting patio stuff, finishes, and all while prepping to move in sometime before June 1 (which is when our weddings begin and last till November). Needless to say, and in case you haven’t noticed already, we’ll be absurdly occupied till that’s over.
 
So thanks to everyone who’s been so nice and enthusiastic about these projects despite not getting the full extent of what we aim to offer in the store and public events. Their completion will dramatically impact every single line item in our lives, from how we do business all the way down to dishwashing at home.
 
It’s been hard, but so was converting a 100-year-old garage / heating company into a vintage store / event venue. We made it through, and will continue doing so until every GD detail is DONE AAAAAAHHHHHHH ok.

Our driveway was the bus stop when we were kids. One October morning, there was a giant dinosaur standee for my dad that said, “LORDY LORDY JEFF IS 40.” And now I am. Doesn’t feel like the 40 of yore, that’s for sure.

Reginald Baylor is a Founder and Brand Director of Reginald Baylor Studio LLC, a creative studio that specializes in brand experiences. He founded the studio in 2008 with a focus on developing and selling his portfolio of large-scale acrylic on canvas paintings. Over time, he began transforming the studio’s product and design services by contracting with project managers and independent designers. This expansion allowed RBS to negotiate and execute the production of projects in a wide range of areas, including communication design, logo design, private and corporate commissions, environmental graphics, community-led designs, destination marketing, site-specific design, events, and co-branding collaborations.

As Brand Director, Reginald is responsible for spearheading efforts to elevate the studio’s impact on the creative industry through the broadcasting of its business discoveries, community engagement, and organizational strategies.

Lamp of Your Dreams. Furry and opulent. Three-way lighting, either lamp, base, or both with each toggle. Great shape for furriness, plenty of weight to it. About 38” tall, 16” across on the shade. $285 - link in profile to claim.

Rattan and Vinyl Couch w/ Side Table. PLUMP. Is this an attractive marketing term? They use it for hot dogs. Good structure to the cushions overall, but you’ll see that the former owner had a thick piece of cardboard underneath for added support. Can’t see it, it works, it can be our secret. Minor age here and there. About 74” long, 21” to the back, 17” to the seat, 31” tall. Table is about 20” x 20”, 17” tall. $650 for set - link in profile to claim.

Kneeling Dude Carved Side Table. Complete with patina/mystery. Could paint it, though I dig the look on this one. Some age here and there on the glass, though nothing dangerous (pictured). 18.75” x 20” on glass, 20.5” tall. $350 – link in profile to claim / get more looks.

Quilted Floral Wingback Chair Set (2). Eclectic video-podcast furnishings, cir. ‘60s. Pretty tight with the stitched design, not much else aside from some standard age in the legs. 32.5” wide, 19” to the back, 18” to the seat, 51” tall. $350 for set - link in profile to claim.

Shorty Mid-Century Hutch on Pins. Don’t always see these this short, but certainly an opportunity to put stuff on top in a different sort of way! (Or you could just order 16” pins on Amazon, they aren’t terribly expensive.) Great shape, light age here and there, nothing of note. 54.25” wide, 48” tall, about 17” deep, about 15”/13”/11” from bottom to top height between shelves. $450 - link in bio to claim.
