(30)

Dreamstitcher Custom Costume is a Minneapolis, Minnesota (USA)-based costumer Rae Lundquist, specializing in custom-made garments for the Science-Fiction, Fantasy, Anime aficianado or Living History Reenactor. I pride myself in being able to provide the garment you want, from a pattern custom drafted specifically for you. What I do for you:
Create the garment you want, whether it be from Japanese

Anime, Science Fiction, History, or a creation all your own. Each piece is analyzed for form, function an wear-ability, and a pattern custom drafted to you. As far as possible, I approach costume as clothing first, so that it allows you to move as you. What I don't do:
I don't mass produce garments for sale via mail order or "off the rack". Each garment's pattern is drafted and sewn to fit the individual customer's specific needs. As all the work is made to order, I cannot offer a catalog as such. This site is a gallery of work done, offering a glimpse of what I can and have done.

* I've been out of commission for this past week - 'con crud' - horrendous sore throat, massive headache, and congestion.

Possibly croup/whooping cough?

Anyway, you won't hear from me for awhile. And call before you drop by, have no idea how long this is going to lat.

For those at CONvergence, I should be arriving at the hotel, and into the party room around 4pm today (Th).

I will be bringing various costumes, and you can pick them up after that time.

From now on through Sunday afternoon, I will be on my cell phone, and can be reached at this number 651-497-8895.

See you at the Con!

* last call to share a hotel room at CONvergence -as part of the 'Costumer's Conclave' party room crew. You'll be in a private room of the actual con hotel (on the same floor, but away from, the 5th floor party room) splitting the room rental with 2-4 others who also sign up - good deal if you're coming in a group).

Volunteering in the 'Costumer's Conclave' will consist of a couple of hours during the con - some hours in the afternoon available.

Contact me - The DreamStitcher - soon, so we can transfer the reservation name from mine to yours.

* Still looking for donors to help finance and support the 'Costumer's Conclave' party room at CONvergence. (In return for your donation, you will have space to display one of your own costumes, stash your stuff and share crash space in the hotel).

This is party room devoted to the viewing, discussion, and construction of costumes! There will be costumes on display*, reference books to peruse, tea to sip and cookies to munch while discussing every aspect of costume & cosplay.

There will even be some 'in party room' costume related programming. And, of course the 'Costume Emergency First Aid Station' will be available for all those last minute costume 'malfunctions'!

Contact Rae Lundquist / The DreamStitcher to contribute (can take cash, check, PayPal). [email protected]

Always looking for people to help host the party room, too! There is a private (in hotel) room to share with other volunteers.

* If you are interested in making a contribution, you will be given the first opportunity for display space -a chance to show off your own creation, and talk to people about 'how you did that'!

Asking my 'rendezvous' and historical re-enactment friends:
|
What book(s) do you recommend that trace the history of the fur trade in MN and WI? Looking for a timeline, that emphasizes the area's history, from before European encroachment, to the end of the fur trade (circa mid 1800's).

Planning a sewing project alone those lines, but want to brush up on my history first.

* Well, we have our party room assignment for CONvergence - 5117. The main party will be on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the con, with the room open some hours on Thursday and Friday afternoon.

There will be in some 'in room' costume presentations Thursday and Friday afternoons ( The Historical Basis of the Lord of the Rings, and Hobbit costumes and 'An Overview of Underwear - A Brief History).

The presentation 'Sewing Tips and Tricks for Newbies' will be held in the Greenway function room on Friday, 11am.

* While this won't be the huge party room I've done in the past, I still need help in raising funds to cover the costs of room rental, etc.
Any donations towards our party room - Costumer's Conclave - are very much appreciated! (PayPal - [email protected] or cash, or check).

Costumer's Conclave is where costumers, and newbies, can come sip tea, munch cookies and TALK COSTUME. There will be reference books available, perhaps a 'frockflick' to watch and discuss. If you have a costuming problem/question, feel free to 'pick the brains' of those more experiences.

Looking to show off your creation? Contact me about having a costumed manikin , or photos displayed.

* Mother's Day doesn't just mean children focus on their mothers - but that mothers reflect on their children as well.

I have two boys I'm very proud of - I think I did good!

* In case you've been trying to reach me, my computer died on my almost a week ago. Resuscitation hasn't seemed to work. So I'm waiting on my more tech savvy sons to come revive it.

Keith did get a new(er) hand me down from my son, and we've gotten THAT to work, so I'm typing on it now.

If you do need to get ahold of me, you can FB Message me (don't have e-mail set up on this computer as yet.

Just hoping I can retrieve all my costume research stuff from my old (dead/dying) computer.

Curious. Somewhere I received a pair of high heels, with beads and spangles on them, probably either wedding or some sort of dress up.

The sixpence taped to the underside of the left shoe confirmed that it was wedding ! The coin had Fid Def on one side, along with a thistle, and Regina Elizabeth II on the other, along with the date: 1958.

At Iowa Bridal Preservation learn the tradition of the thistle and silver sixpence gift. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence coin in the brides shoe.

looking to chat with people who have signed up for being interpreters/presenters at Big Island Rendezvous this fall (2024). What type of remuneration are you getting for doing presentations for school tours, and for the public?

Would like to know before signing a contract with them (for my 'Clothing of the Fur Trade' presentations for school and public days).

PM please, or contact me at [email protected]

Well, we've been accepted as a party room for upcoming CONvergence -

Costumer's Conclave - quiet room to sip tea, crunch cookies and (you guessed it) TALK COSTUME!

I'm looking for people who want to participate in this room party. In exchange for helping to fund the room:

You'll have a place for your costume storage and a place to change.

There will be a sleeping space available (for % of room cost) either in the party room, or in a private hotel room.

Space for YOUR costume display. Hope to have several available for public discussion (and adulation).

Space for your costume programming. If there is something you'd like to present, but a topic that wouldn't have a large audience, you can still give your talk/demo, etc. in the party room afternoons to a smaller, but more appreciative audience.

If you want to get in on this, please PM me
or e-mail me at:
[email protected]

You're a son this mother is proud of.

Our car is terminal. The brakes went out a few days ago.

We survived Anime Detour, but only because we had already rented a truck, and used that to get around this past weekend.

The Ford Focus was ancient, but sturdy. But there are just too many things to fix on it, besides the brakes. So we're going to scrap it and depend upon Metro Transic, and bicycles for awhile (until we can get a new(er) vehicle. (have to talk with our credit union)

Anybody got a durable cargo van for sale? Don't care at all what it looks like, just want it to start/stop, run and have heat and A/C.
