As titles go, 'Disco Fever' misleadingly sounds like the name of a K-Tel compilation or a roller-boogie b-movie from 1979 -- right before disco itself collapsed and went from inescapable fad to pop-culture pariah. But we live in a better tomorrow, where Chic's Nile Rodgers still plays on Grammy-winning albums and housemeisters like Todd Terje can embrace both the jo

y and the kitsch without fear. And with local DJ majordomos Freddy Fresh and King Otto at the boards with an all-vinyl stash of party rockers, you know reclamation of the disco repertoire won't just stop at the Salsoul and Casablanca hits that defined the core of the '70s disco movement. Expect a healthy dose of old-school pre-Def Jam hip-hop, pumped-up Italo, pop-lock-provoking electro, and dip-in-your-hip boogie funk to keep the get-down feeling flowing well past the turn of the '80s.
