Imagine Nation Brewing

Imagine Nation Brewing INBC is the country's first intentional combo of microbrewery & Center for Community Transformation. We developed the vision for the Imagine Nation Brewing Co.
(192)

For two decades, we have worked in conflict zones around the world to promote peace and healing within communities affected by violence. We have noticed over the years in a variety of contexts that social change is generated more effectively when a constructive entity or group exists—in this case a brewery—where individuals feel a sense of belonging while they receive support for building and impl

ementing skills that can better the communities in which they live. over the past 5 years with the guiding belief that it can financial sustain positive change-based projects while making the process of transforming the world accessible and rewarding for as many people as possible. The Imagine Nation Brewing Company will strive to incorporate the best of what microbreweries currently offer while taking the model one step further. Not only will the INBC produce excellent beer made from the highest quality ingredients and create space for people to connect and celebrate life together, we hope that it will also serve as a nexus for social change. In order to accomplish this, we will use the taproom to host workshops on integrative community and personal transformation and to provide a stimulating environment for local groups to conduct positive initiatives that serve the surrounding community. In addition, as owners, we will take teacher's salaries in order to donate a healthy percentage of proceeds to support local initiatives. By combining a sustainable business model proven to be successful all over Montana with transformative educational programs based in lessons that transformed some of the most difficult situations in the world, it is our hope that the INBC will become a creative hub where better beer is just the beginning.

It’s that time of year: we invite you to submit your art to be considered for scheduling 2024’s monthly featured artists!

❣️ Every month, a different local artist displays their work here in the taproom. On First Fridays, the artists are here to talk about their work. We believe art (and especially locally made art!) helps us understand and connect with one another, to expand our collective consciousness, and to see things from new perspectives. 💭

🖼️ We’re looking for artists with collections of multiple pieces of visual art to fill the walls of the taproom. We want work that inspires reflection and conversation, that challenges us to wrestle with the complexities of life.
Is that you? Do you know someone who is? Tag them below! 🫶🏼

⭐️ Submit example photos and a brief description of your work to: [email protected] (music isn’t all that our arts coordinator Steve manages!) 📝 Include a short bio of yourself and your influences to help give context to your work. ⭐️

No, sir. These guys are bonafide!

NEW BEER + FIRST FRIDAY + LIVE MUSIC

This week's beer release is a favorite!

Liberator W.E. Coast IPA (6.8%)
Liberator is our flagship W.E. Coast IPA that has been refined and tinkered with as Freedom Fighter (when it was hazy and juicy). Starting with a base of 2-row, specialty malts, and a unique water profile, we have the perfect canvas for hops to flourish. At 6 lbs per barrel of our favorite PNW varietals, used in heavy quantities in the kettle, whirlpool, and dry hop, we get a depth of hoppy flavors and aromas that remind us of both West Coast and New England IPA in a way that earns this beer its own unifying style (W.E. Coast IPA). We sense mango, peach, apricot, citrus, passionfruit, and dank pine, with a firm bitterness that adds structure and a quenching finish. Available on tap and in cans to-go!

We are open from 12-8pm

TOMORROW -- NEW ART FOR FIRST FRIDAY: From 5-8pm, meet December's featured artist: Dónal Cían Lakatua!

Dónal Cían Lakatua is a Missoula-based photographer who spends most of his time documenting music and arts in Montana. Most of his work concerns alternative and underground spaces, youth culture, and the DIY music scene in Missoula for the last five or so years. Art can happen anywhere. The images I've contributed to this gallery were made between 2018 and 2023, taken in bars, bike garages, basements, and living rooms. All of these shows were made possible due to the dedication and passion of hundreds of Missoulians who spent all their energy keeping this place alive. To the bands, organizers, dancers, and artists who have made and will continue to make Missoula cool, I hope these images serve as a reminder of what true community feels like.

LIVE MUSIC 12/1 from 6-8PM with Doctor Fly : Doctor Fly is an electronic musician who haunts Missoula, MT. Harnessing a brood of mysterious music machines, he enkindles an interdimensional space; all who enter shall be imperceptibly yet undeniably changed. Doctor Fly performs improvisational compositions on the guitar, keyboard, recorder, theremin, kazoo, and drum machine. For more information visit www.seansong.org.

DOUBLE BEER RELEASE + LIVE IRISH MUSIC:

We're doing an early beer release this week so you can stock up before the holiday! If you happen to come by between 5:30 and 8pm, you'll also be greeted with our resident traditional Irish music supergroup, Imagine Ireland!

We will be closed on Thanksgiving, so be sure to come in today for your holiday beer needs.

8° Plato Czech-style Pilsner (3.5%):
Inspired by one of the lightest commercially available beer styles, we brewed this pale lager with premium Czech ingredients, including Bohemian floor malted pilsner malt and Saaz hops. With a total conditioning time of 8 weeks, 8 Plato showcases well integrated herbaceous and citrus notes atop a doughy malt backbone, with an elegant effervescence and incredibly crisp finish. Available on tap and in cans to-go!

Freedom Fighter West Coast IPA (6.8%)
Freedom Fighter is our beloved West Coast house IPA. Brewed with American 2-row and pilsner malts, hopped generously with 5 lbs. per barrel of Centennial T90, Simcoe T90/Cryo, and a touch of Mosaic Cryo, then fermented with a clean American yeast strain, this is a classic, crisp and bright interpretation of the style. Expect hefty hop notes of orangey citrus, pine, and resin, with soft stone fruit notes that clean from the palate with a refreshing snappy bitterness and a simple honey cracker malt backbone. Available on tap and in cans to-go!

BEER RELEASE + LIVE MUSIC

We have one beer release this week and it's the perfect beer for this unusually warm and sunny weekend!

Lupujūs 5 New England Style IPA (5.5%)

Lupujus 5 is the most crushable of our Signature Series of brightly flavored and juicy New England IPAs. The recipe is designed to finish rich, full and soft, with a big hop profile that emulates the drinking experience of a much bigger beer, but without the high ABV. Generously hopped with over 5lbs per barrel of El Dorado, Strata, and Citra, we taste notes of cantaloupe, smooth orange, passion fruit, and mango, with a fluffy and soft finish. It mirrors the vision of this brewery: combine different ingredients to create a transcendent and positive impact on society. Enjoy. Celebrate. Make an impact. Available on tap and in cans to-go!

Our Friday night libations include live music from from 6-8pm. His solo acoustic set showcases American country, rock, and blues.

NEW BEER + LIVE MUSIC

Back in August, one of the deadliest wildfire in US history swept through Lahaina, Maui, causing devastating damage to the city and the lives of thousands. The Kokua Project, pioneered by Maui Brewing Company, invited the brewing industry to come together to benefit those impacted by the Maui Wildfires.

Kokua Session IPA is the culmination of a dozen brewing suppliers and countless breweries from around the world who are contributing to this effort by donating supplies and donating proceeds. We thank , , , and for contributing to our release.

All proceeds from Kokua will directly benefit those impacted by the Maui wildfires.

Kokua Session IPA (4.2%)
The Kokua Project is a collaborative effort started by those affected by the Maui wildfire. Kokua is a word used to describe the spirit of kindness accompanied by a desire to help one another. The beer is a single recipe, brewed by many breweries internationally, with 100% of proceeds going to relief efforts. Hopped with New Zealand Waimea and Mosaic Cryo hops atop a clean and simple base, this beer is bright, crisp, and refreshing, asserting notes of passion fruit, fresh pomelo, flower nectar, and lime zest. Available on tap and in cans to go!

BEER RELEASE + FIRST FRIDAY ART + LIVE MUSIC
⭐️ Dark Matter American Stout (5.7%) 🪐Dark Matter is the quintessential American Stout. Pouring a deep black color that reveals a dark auburn hue when held under light, with a pale tan head, this stout presents aromas of fresh roast cacao, dark coffee, toasted nuts, and subtle maple. Deep roast notes are sure to warm you up on a cold winter’s day and are complemented by the taste of bittersweet chocolate chips, burnt caramel, maple, and a beautifully intact dark malt character, rounded out by a clean, earthy hoppiness. A touch of oats and malted rye and a treated water profile wraps up the drinking experience with just enough softness and heft that makes this beer go down a lot quicker than you may expect. Available on draft and in cans to-go.

📚 🖼️ FIRST FRIDAY: 🔥 This Is Wildfire 🔥 Join illustrator Jessy Stevenson and authors Nick Mott and Justin Angle for an illustration showcase, book signing, and readings from This Is Wildfire from 5-6pm. Books available to purchase thanks to Fact & Fiction.

DOUBLE BEER RELEASE:

Just in time for some wintery weather, we're releasing two new beers to transport your tastebuds to a warmer, more tropical place!

Midnight Choir Passion Fruit Gose (5%)
Midnight Choir is our Gose series that blends a hefty dose of a singular fruit into a simple, dry, and clean Gose base. This batch showcases one of our favorite tropical fruits - Passion Fruit. Its sweetness and intense tropical funk pairs perfectly with the acidity and salt from the base beer, resulting in a delightfully quenching treat. Available on tap and to-go!

Hyperspace Mango Milkshake NEIPA (6.2%)
Hyperspace is our Milkshake NEIPA series showcasing different fruit and hop pairings with lactose, and the first of its kind in Montana. Our goal with this style has always been to carefully select a blend of hops that contribute most of the desired fruit notes, before adding a tasteful amount of puree to round out the profile. This edition is hopped with Citra and Mosaic before being conditioned on a touch of real mango puree to accentuate, not usurp, the tropical fruit and citrus notes from the hops. It is full bodied and creamy, with a decadent effervescence to accompany the extremely juicy flavors. Available on tap and to-go!

From 6-8pm, we're delighted to invite to play poppy Americana tunes for you in our taproom.

We are open from 12-8pm.

Fresh Hop Lupujus 7 NEIPA (7%)
In order to brew Fresh Hop Lupujus 7, the stars over Yakima must align such that Citra and Mosaic are ripe and ready for harvest at the same time. Lucky for us, this was one of those years! Starting with our honed and beloved Lupujus 7 base, we crammed in over 200 lbs of fresh Citra and Mosaic hops straight from Tributary Farms in the Yakima Valley. This quantity of fresh hops is the most we’ve ever used in a fresh hop beer, and piled in with a Citra, Mosaic, and Strata dry hop, this is hands down our hoppiest beer to date! Pouring an opaque yellow-gold, Fresh Hop Lupujus 7 is brimming with bright mango, peach, nectarine, passionfruit, citrus and blueberry notes, with a hefty dankness and classic fresh hop character that exemplifies why we love this time of year and style of beer so much! We invite you to share this rare treat and labor of love with us before it’s gone!
Available on tap and to-go.

NEW BEER + LIVE IRISH MUSIC

You know it's fate when a fresh (and special!) batch of Freedom Fighter drops on the same day that Imagine Ireland enchants the taproom with traditional Irish music!

What makes this batch of Freedom Fighter so special you might be wondering?

Fresh Hop Freedom Fighter IPA (6.8%)
We are so excited to introduce the first ever batch of Fresh Hop Freedom Fighter! Using the classic West Coast Freedom Fighter base, we picked up and hopped this batch with 100 lbs of locally sourced fresh Cascade hops from our friends at Flathead Valley Hops in Kalispell. Their passion for growing and processing hops for Montana brewers is unparalleled, which we felt on the farm and sense in the glass. Finished off with Centennial, Simcoe, and a touch of Mosaic, Fresh Hop Freedom Fighter delivers notes of pine, soft lemon, sweet grapefruit, herbaceous dankness, and lovely floral notes with a compelling fresh hop bite that harkens to time spent in the middle of a hop field. Available on premise and to-go!

Today, we recognize Indigenous Peoples Day to honor Indigenous communities in Montana and across the globe. We celebrate their histories, cultures, and their resiliency. 🧡

How can you celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day?

🎉 1. Attend an event!

💪🏽 2. Support local Indigenous businesses, organizations, and nonprofits like:
Indigenous Made Missoula, Western Native Voice , All Nations Health Center, Montana Two Spirit Society (We invite you to tag others in the comments and tell how you're supporting or donating!)

📚 3. Educate yourself: learn whose traditional lands you live on (INBC is located on the ancestral lands of the Selis, Qlispe, Ksanka peoples.) Unlearn myths about Columbus 👺and consider how many stories are told from a colonizer perspective which hides the realities of colonialism's long term effects. ✊🏼 Learn about current issues for Indigenous people including MMIW, treat rights, water rights, voting rights, sacred land protections, and more.

📖 4. Read Indigenous authors. A few Native writers from Montana include James Welch, Adrian Jawort, and Mandy Smoker Broaddus. (Tag more of your favorite Indigenous authors in the comments!)

🎤 We have Open Mic tonight from 6-8pm (outside in the beautiful sun, starting a little early to catch the remaining daylight!) and 🐔 Crispy's Wing Wagon from 5-8pm. We’re open for in house or to-go from 12-8pm. 🍻

NEW BEER RELEASE:

Our second beer release this week is a very exciting one that we've been waiting a long time to brew and share with you!

Liminal Space All Strata NEIPA (7.2%)
Seldom do we see a new hop variety assert itself so strongly within the craft beer world like Strata. Bred by the Oregon State University hop breeding program back in 2009, Strata accelerated quickly through its experimental status thanks to its robust agronomic viability and highly desirable flavor and aroma characteristics. Released commercially in 2018, we were amongst the first to introduce it to the public. Since then, it has been a staple in our hoppy beer offerings, most notably as an anchor hop in our entire Lupujūs series. Now, it's time to shine the spotlight entirely on this hop variety we love so much. Strata Liminal Space is the latest installment in our single hop NEIPA series, and the resulting beer is proof that this hop can truly stand on its own. Pouring a deep yellow, this beer gushes with a medley of nostalgic juices and candy that we've never seen before in an IPA. We sense strawberry fruit by the foot, tropical fruit roll-up, and Five Alive citrus juice, with a depth and intensity of flavor that we typically only see in our double IPAs. Come see for yourself why Strata has earned its spot amongst the great American hop varieties.
Available on premise and to-go.
