It’s always special to photograph a wedding for someone you know, but it’s extra special when that person is one of your sister’s best friends who feels like an extension of your own family!

Emily and my sister, Katherine, have been friends since their days at McGill-Toolen. I still remember taking photos of them together at senior events back when they graduated from high school. I really wanted to find one of those photos for this wedding post, but I was evidently not that organized with my image archives back in the day before I started my photography business. 😉

Happy Tuesday, friends and welcome to Weddings by Twyla!
My name is Twyla and I am the owner of Weddings by Twyla and TPJ Social Events. As you’re preparing for your big day, allow me to introduce myself!

I planned events in the corporate world, both nationwide and internationally for 25 years. After I retired, I officially began planning weddings in 2017.

My favorite thing about wedding planning is getting to know the couple first by learning about them and their interests. This goes a long way in planning their special day, allowing them to have fun and enjoy all of the little details come together. While I work hard behind the scenes, the bride and groom can relax and enjoy their dream wedding become a reality!

I will be married 40 years July 25th! My favorite thing about being married is laughing and enjoying each other daily. By spending time in prayer and putting God in the center of your marriage always, He will help you make it through the tough times.

If I could give any advice to future brides, it would be to make sure you are with the person the Lord has chosen for you. Make sure you can laugh, joke and enjoy the small things, so when the hard times pass through, you can endure them having the same moral, financial & spiritual beliefs and values.

I am so excited for you to be on this journey with me and look forward to talking to you soon!
