Floral Designs was established in the fall of 1995. My friend Candi & I bought the existing, Floral Traditions, after much prayer. With God’s direction we remodeled the existing floral business on Main Street in Tremont. We also added a wide selection of home décor products and changed the name. Having never touched a fresh flower, we learned a lot those first few years through the school of hard knocks! Maybe one of these days we will blog about the fact that you don’t have to cut down an entire Christmas tree to get fresh evergreens… or about the fact that a bridal bouquet doesn’t have to be the size of Mt. Everest! We started right off designing wedding flowers, filling funeral needs, delivering daily fresh floral arrangements & selling home décor. Over the years there has been a change in business partners for reasons of expanding family and other job opportunities. In 2004, Cheri bought into the business with me. Again, God had his hand in this change because she had never touched a fresh flower either! Our first expansion happened in 2005. We doubled our showroom space & started offering in-home consultations for home decorating. My daughter, Kim, had started working with us in high school and she soon realized she wanted to pursue this work as a fulltime career. So again after much prayer, we decided to expand our business in a larger town. Our current location had just opened up for rent and was a perfect fit. My husband, Dave, quickly began constructing our beautiful showroom and we opened our Morton location in the fall of 2006. Because our Morton shop took off so fast, we decided to sell our Tremont shop (basically so that we wouldn’t lose our mindsJ). Our current location has been very good for us, and so in 2008 we expanded our showroom again – allowing us to feature even more home décor. Dave has created a lovely new space in our showroom that exclusively features our wedding vase rentals. This area is also where Kim and now Shelby consults with our brides. Along with this exciting change, we have recently re-branded our business and launched our new logo, tag line & website. We look forward to many more years in business and give God the glory for any and all success that we’ve been blessed with! -Ann
