Come see us at the Rendezvous this Sunday, June 30th between 1 and 3 PM. There will be 10 bakers from the Muscatine community vying to win the "People's Choice Award" for their cupcakes. Purchase a ticket at the door, sample the cupcake offerings and all funds from the ticket sales will go to support the Muscatine County Habitat for Humanity! Hope to see you there for some sweet treats and supporting a great community service organization to provide safe housing for our residents!

Wishing Russ & Teisha O'Brien a wonderful 18th wedding anniversary (+1 day). Russ & Teisha started the ball rolling for me at the Rendezvous on April 22, 2006 - the month after the facility opened by being the first wedding reception held at the Rendezvous Banquet Facility & Catering 18 years ago! I have known this lovely couple through their wedding reception and many years since and wish them all the best on their next 18 years and beyond!

Happy 6th Anniversary to Kailyn (Linder) & Joe Beason who celebrated their wedding with us on January 6, 2018 - or at least started off their day with us. Kailyn's family & friends were decorating the Rendezvous when we discovered a fire had begun in one of the heating/cooling units on the roof. With ridiculous cold outside and fire, firemen and water disrupting their wedding day and necessitating a move to another facility they still managed to keep it all together and celebrate their special day! They know how to keep the home-fires burning (sorry for the pun - intended) Best wishes to them both and their growing family! Loved how Kailyn expressed it - "What a crazy day turned into a beautiful life!"

Be sure to visit ILLUMINATE this Friday or Saturday to help them fundraiser for Crossroads, not only to help seniors and the disabled in Muscatine but also to recover from the vandalism that happened to their beautiful light show in W**d Park!

iLLUMINATE has been a 9-month labor of love. We opened iLLUMINATE to over 1000 cars over Thanksgiving weekend. The joy on people’s faces and the gratitude in their voices immediately told us that this was all worth it.

Volunteers have put in hundreds of hours. Sponsors have been generous. Our patrons have been grateful and numerous. It’s truly been an honor to serve the Muscatine community in this way. We’d already been looking forward to improving next year’s offerings.

And then, on Christmas night, sometime after 5:30pm, someone stole thousands of feet of our extension cords and damaged electrical equipment. Overnight, half of our displays were rendered inoperable. The physical damages and losses from theft will exceed $2,000. That’s to say nothing of the nights we won’t be able to open and collect donations at the gate. Conservatively, we’re looking at a $10,000 loss for iLLUMINATE in one fell swoop.

The person (or people) who did this clearly acted out of desperation. To draw any other conclusion invites anger and bitterness. We hope they find answers for whatever struggles life is giving them.

That said, Crossroads is a disability and senior services non-profit. We fundraise as a matter of survival. While we’ve loved putting on a show for Muscatine, it must make sense, and cents, for us.

Many of you have asked how you can help us repair iLLUMINATE and reach our financial goals. We’re aiming to reopen for one final weekend: Friday and Saturday night. To do that, we’ll need a lot of help (more to come on that later). If you’d like to donate, you can use the Venmo or credit card link below to donate, or you can show up when we reopen.
