Today is my 4 year Sober-versary ...
Today is the day after the anniversary of one of my best friends dying of Brain cancer ... (F**K CANCER) This year he's been gone for 6 years (and that hurts so much..)

1 year ago it felt the same

I tried to drink it away years 1, 2, and 3... They say 3rd times a charm and today 4 years ago, 3 years after he left us, I woke up after I should have probably been with him again...
My life in shambles, my family upset that addiction was winning... I'd take pills to make "wasted" come sooner... I'd be in bars all hours of the night... My cabinets were filled with alcohol and having an empty bottle panicked me... I'd spend hundreds of dollars nursing an addiction ... That was more important than food, or bills, or memories...

I drank when I was happy ... Or sad... Or mad... Or tired... Or just out... Or staying in... I drank when I woke up... Or to go to sleep. I drank at work.

I woke up with lacerations that I don't remember getting... Calling out of work because suddenly I needed stitches.

I drove drunk.

I'm incredibly embarrassed and regretful to say that but it's 100% true .

I drove drunk.

All the time.

And I used to think I wasn't driving drunk because I wasn't wasted ... But I was wasted ... I just couldn't feel anymore ...

There's no way I drank alcohol and took random pills and other really hard drugs, and wasn't wasted ...

I've broken my body and I am now trying to fix it every day ... It's been 4 years but what I've done is still affecting me... The addiction thinking ... The self worth ... The dysmorphia ...
.....

4 years ago I woke up in my garage ... And I cried ... A lot .... I felt like I was dying ... Which was probably true... And I decided to check into rehab and actually listen to them this time .

And I've never looked back.

Today I have 4 years of memories ...
And I'm grateful.

Did you know that when you drink and can't remember the night before it's not just "fuzzy memory" it's because your body was shutting down, and your brain was literally incapable of creating memory... I’ll never get those memories again. I’ll never get those memories back. I have no idea what happened for a really good chunk of my life since high school.....

Rob died 6 years ago, and he wanted to live ... And I was actively killing myself for "fun" ... It wasn't fair ... And 4 years ago today I realized that . (if you knew Rob, you’d also know that he would be pretty proud of the fact that he’s the last person I drank about.) 🖤

What to expect in 2018 for #TwistedGeArZ

2017 was a positive year! Advertisement was the main goal, which seems to have lead to great success!!! DJ Gadget is now the resident DJ for CT Sun WNBA team at Mohegan Sun Arena, she had the pleasure of finishing out the 2017 season for the National Lacrosse League New England Blackwolves, and has had countless Weddings, events, karaoke nights, and parties! DJ G@DgEt was featured in 3 magazines across CT and RI, Google has registered #TwistedGeArZ as a business. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, WordPress, and Linkedin profiles are all up and running. DJ Gadget has secured a domain name and website @ www.GoGoDJGadget.com and people are really showing interest in events that we have the pleasure of being a part of! Thank you for all the encouragement and support this year!! In 2018 we hope to expand, and create an entertainment network to assist our customers with all of their event needs!
