Five things I’ve learned as a wedding planner that have helped me as I become a bride.

1. Something always goes wrong. Sometimes it’s big things, sometimes it’s little family dramas out of your control. Dont expect things to ever go according to plan.

2. Your owe it to your partner to be present. Even though I have done much of the planning myself, I hired someone (star planner ) on the day-of to take on questions and coordination duties so I don’t have to worry about the timeline etc.

3.Don’t be afraid to ditch traditions that don’t resonate with you. For example: I’m not having bridesmaids because our wedding is small and I don’t want anyone to feel like there is any kind of friend hierarchy. Each guest is special to me.

4. Pick a venue that will make YOU happy. I picked a place that is logistically tricky (international travel) and that means some people can’t make the journey. It has been sad for us to have certain friends and family that won’t be there, but ultimately it feels like the right place for us as a couple.

5. If you want to spend less, invite less people. This is my golden rule. Budget reflects the guest count in every scale of wedding and if you want to save, you need to shave (the guest list ) 🤪

I could actually probably wrote a book on advice for brides but I’ll save that for after the wedding !
