I love when I get inside information at a session. When the fun picture time came around, I was given the pleasure of saying "Angie steals TV's from Walmart".
I am assuming she was wrongfully accused. But by the look on her parents face, I am not so sure. Can any of you guess which one is Angie in this lineup? 🤣

That is a lot of color! I have seen the Northern Lights before. But not this pronounced, this far south. I ended up at 4 different locations. Every one had a different hue. This one was near Truman, MN and WOW for red/orange!

📸✨ What a day! I am beyond excited to share a little glimpse into my very first experience shooting wedding photography. Saturday, I had the immense honor of capturing the love and joy of an incredible couple on their special day.

From the early morning preparations to the vows and the festive reception, every moment was a new adventure. I've shot weddings before but video only. Stepping into the world of wedding photography brought a whole new level of exhilaration and, admittedly, some nervousness!

I went to bed Saturday night after backing my images up and had a tough time sleeping. I was questioning whether I got enough good shots. I do the same with video too. At some point, I will have the confidence not to feel that anymore. After 12 hours, 2 cameras, 5 batteries and 3,533 pictures later, I can say I got some shots that I am really proud of. Most importantly, the bride and groom will be ecstatic about.

I've just put the finishing touches on a few of those photos and I'm thrilled to share them with you all. Capturing the laughter, the heartfelt moments and the dance moves was a true joy. These moments are just a taste of the beautiful day we all experienced together.

A huge thank you to the lovely couple for trusting me with such an important part of your day. You made my first photography wedding shoot unforgettable with your warmth, excitement and faith.

I find myself without my camera during the best sunsets lately. That wasn't going to stop me last night from capturing this as I drove up the driveway of my family's farm.
Confession time. I have passed by moments and compositions that are worthy of frames more times than I care to count, all because I am busy doing something else. Many of which were due to me being en route to somewhere and concerned about my arrival time.
Ever have a little pep talk with yourself? I did. About this very behavior. It needs to stop. From now on, I will stop to smell the proverbial roses. With or without my camera.
Also, the driveway could use some gravel and a grader. Add it to the list...

I am super excited to share with you a project that began a little over a year ago! I was asked by Visit Fairmont to create a series of videos to promote tourism for the Fairmont, MN area. This project included 5 different videos. One for each season and one 4-season video, It has been a labor of love, and I am very pleased with the final product. I hope you will be too.
Creating a video that captures the essence of this unique city is no small feat, but I was excited to take on the challenge. Although this city is known for its chain of five lakes, there are many amenities, events and venues that share the magic of what makes Fairmont a destination for visitors from all walks of life, in any season.
Through these videos, I hope to inspire people to pack their bags and come visit Fairmont for themselves. Whether it's exploring the historic architecture, industry leading railroad history, fishing or recreation in one of the five lakes, or trying the local cuisine, there's something for everyone in this beautiful city.
Thank you to Visit Fairmont for entrusting me with this project, and I sincerely hope this video series will help Fairmont reach its goal in showing visitors how we like to entertain our guests. Some shots, you have in your head for a long.... time. You know what you want them to look like. But in order for that to happen, there are many stars that need to align. Aerial photography is even worse. This is the City of Fairmont. It was taken this morning. If I had to guess, I submitted 14 LAANC requests to fly in this area to capture this shot, in these conditions. Fog is difficult to predict. And although, the image didn't come out perfect, I am pretty pleased with it.
What is a LAANC request?
As a commercial drone operator, we are required to submit a request to the FAA every time we want to fly in an area of controlled airspace. Because the City of Fairmont is so close to their airport (which is Class E airspace), there is virtually nowhere in Fairmont that you can fly without one (while operating during their hours of operation). That makes it EXTREMELY difficult to get the shot you're looking for when planning so far ahead that weather is the unknown.
Is aerial photography satisfying? Yes. Because it offers a perspective many have never seen. But there is a lot of trial and error.

Fairmont has 5 lakes that are connected, which makes up the "Chain of Lakes". This image was taken above Amber Lake near Cedar Creek Park facing North. In the top left corner, you can see the steam coming from one of the plants west of town. Cool, huh?

But, before I do, I want to show you some images from a Military Ball I was invited to. These are Military personnel that get together annually to become more acquainted with one another. I was given the privilege to be a part of that experience. It sure was fun. Their customs and traditions are humorous to say the least. Here are some of our finest.
