The outdoor portion of the festival, on Frank Ogawa Plaza, includes a dedicated children’s area with performances from Children’s Fairyland, “favorite-stories” read by librarians from the Oakland Public Library, and book-making projects courtesy of the Museum of Children’s Arts. There will be live music and readings on the amphitheater all day. Booksellers, magazine publishers, and local literary organizations will have booths on the plaza; food trucks will provide nourishment.

What do Greek aphorisms, Hemingway stories, your twitter feed, and the parables of Jesus, Kafka, or Nietzsche have in common? They are brief. They operate under constraints of brevity, and any force they project is a direct result of those constraints. Join Nancy Stohlman, Larry Smith, and Grant Faulkner to discuss the art and practice of writing short, and shorter—then work on the craft with them directly at Clio's.
A few tickets are still available. Reserve yours now:

Three writers of flash fiction and six word stories will discuss the genre and guide you to producing your own brief masterpiece. Fun!

Come and see! Saturday May 20, 4-8pm, visit with writers Grant Faulkner, Larry Smith, and Nancy Stohlman.
