Hey followers...we have an important vote coming up for our community! I have lived here most of my life and love my community! Oakley is extremely important to me not only because I grew up here, but also because I own a business here. Unfortunately, I live in Thomas County, and I am not able to vote YES for the hospital, however I want to give you a little insight into why you should vote YES for our new hospital. * The hospital employs approximately 130 people. If we lost the hospital, we would lose not only those employees, but their spouses and children. That would be a devasting lost to our community, school system and businesses, including mine. Believe me when I say that the employees aren't asking for a new facility just to have new, they NEED new. Updating the current facility is not economically feasible. *I know there are concerns about property taxes being raised, but at least we would see improvement within our community for our dollars spent. * If the hospital were to close, think of our new Western Vista Complex, local businesses have pledge money over a 5 year period to bring this building to Oakley (that was much needed as well). If the hospital closed, our local businesses lose and in turn may not be able to fulfill their pledges. It is truly a trickledown effect on all of the county and local community. *Without our hospital, do we maintain our doctor's office, pharmacy, EMS, etc.? What if you have an emergency, you are 20 minutes from the nearest ER...IF you live in Oakley. Think of those that don't live in Oakley...how long is it for them? *I believe that the future of our community greatly depends on the outcome of this vote. When people look to move to a new community, they look at healthcare and the school system first. I believe that we can grow and become a viable community for many years, if we support ourselves in ways that help us grow. Voting YES would help us do just that! Not only for healthcare but for t
