Both of our brains work the best when the space we are working in is clean and organized. We absolutely prioritize this both for efficiency and our mental well being. This is not the right way for everyone but it is the right way for us. If you’re feeling chaotic and overwhelmed, allow yourself some extra time or bring in extra hands to get your environment where you need it to be for a clear mind. Or at least as clear as you can be mid-wedding season 😵‍💫

You know something we just LOVE! Single ingredient bridesmaid’s bouquets! It’s so much more interesting and distinct than everyone having the same bouquet! You can do this monochromatic with all the bouquets matching in color but different in variety. OR you can do both as seen here! We can’t wait to show you just how amazing these looked with mix and match patterned dresses!

We almost always mix and match linens. There’s really never a reason to rinse and repeat the same linen over and over again. It adds a unique design quality to the space, beaks up the monotony of similarly shaped tables, and allows your color palette to be expanded beyond a single color you’ve chosen.

Not only do we love mix and matching colors, but we love adding different textures as well. The linens shown here are a mix of matte satin, dupioni and a champagne bubbles linen that brought this “Pottery Barn Beach” vibe to life.

Feeling lost on how to mix and match linens: if you are in the “light colors” realm of linens, you can always bring in neutral tones as shown here. We wanted to bring in the couple’s beachy teals and blues, but paired it with some sand inspired taupes for interest. Doing all black? Bring in a texture and pattern to show different sheens in the lighting. There’s also endless possibilities for incorporating patterned linens and napkins into a design as well.

Meet Denice!

Floral Studio Manager

Denice is Emily’s mom. She’s quite literally De-nicest person you will ever meet and every single element at any event we execute has been touched, cleaned, and prepped by her. Denice’s favorite thing to say to people is, “I’m just the mom,” and “I’m the cheap labor," when people ask her questions about an event set up on site. She’s so much more than that to us. She’s the one sweeping up after every dropped leaf, washing buckets, cleaning candles, pulling all the inventory, cleaning all the inventory, and doing all the cleaning around the building. She’s the one making sure we’ve got lunch and drinks and is always there on processing days. Standing at 5’1” tall and 72 years old (I’ll wait while you pick your jaw up off the floor), she’s the powerhouse of AGE. She works mostly on Mondays and Tuesdays to lay the foundation for our entire week and our design crew can certainly attest to how smooth she allows things to run around here.

She retired from Genesee Intermediate School District in 2012, moved to East Lansing and has worked with AGE ever since. She loves the repetitive, annoying jobs, that don’t require too much thought so she can rock out to some Motown while she does them. She has an absolutely banging social life between pickleball, trivia nights, going to South Haven and traveling around the country and world with Tom. She has plans nearly every single day. Denice is a “yes” person that finds the fun is absolutely everything and wants everyone to be happy and having fun around her because that’s what brings her joy. Denice is a mom of 3, grandmother of 4, and great grandmother of 2. We’re all the luckiest people on earth to know her, and can’t imagine life or AGE without her!

Meet (some) of the Freelance Team!

The event world, especially in Michigan, is seasonal to say the least. In order to provide the best service and designs utilizing the best floral design talent in the state, we rely on freelancers during our busy season. Freelancers in the floral world are not employed by any one company or organization, they are self employed and book jobs at different companies on a weekly, or sometimes, daily basis. They are the reason we can do what we do and have the mind-blowing end product to show for it. Our freelancers are truly the backbone of our creative business. Lynette and Emily lay the foundation with proposals, recipes, floral orders, timelines and expectations, and our freelancers take that highly organized information, with a heaping side of creative design freedom, and run. They are the ones physically creating the majority of the designs under our creative direction. Their skills, support and expertise allow us the ability to say YES to all of yours and our crazy ideas. The elaborate, Instagram and Pinterest-worthy weddings are always going to be created by a large team of freelance designers under professional creative direction.

We also have a group of non-floral and planning freelancers. This is our team that sets all of our non-floral design aspects including, but not limited to, candles, already designed centerpieces, place cards, menus, and more. They are in charge of double checking all rentals are in the perfect final position with table and chair counts matching the layout. Then if course, there is the thankless late night tear outs. Our late night freelance team comes in at the end of each event and safely removes, packs and gets it back to our studio for cleaning and use again. Typically our non-floral and planning freelancers pull double duty as the late night tear out crew as well. It’s exhausting, extremely fast paced, and a cornerstone of our customer experience.

Meet Lynette!

lead wedding + event planner | floral + event designer

I have been executing weddings and events since 2014 and I have truly found my calling in life! My Type A personality allows me to make sure all the pretty details don't go unnoticed or untouched. Logistics are my thing! Creating the perfect layout to fit the space and making the day smooth with my down-to-the-minute timelines (YES event days can run on time, I promise!) are my specialties. I enjoy rich textures and unique color palettes that create a nostalgic essence for a romantic evening. I look forward to getting to know your love story or event goals so we can achieve them together. While weddings are my focus, planning corporate and social events are a close second!

Who I am behind the scenes: When I am not working on planning your wedding or event, you can find me cheering on the MSU Spartan basketball and football teams. Go Green! We just bought our forever home, so working on house design projects are keeping me busy. I enjoy spending time with my husband; Dylan, and watching our sweet girls, Brielle & Eastyn grow up & take on life! We have two crazy pups, Colby & Luna that keep us on our toes but give the best snuggles. You can find me traveling to a tropical vacation spot in the winter months and heading to Northern Michigan in the summer months. I enjoy hosting friends and family events and can find any reason to celebrate anything life has to offer. This includes lots of theme parties! My husband will tell you I don't know how to rest, and I can't say he is wrong. I can't wait to get started planning your big event!

Meet Emily!

I’ve always been someone with big dreams who has the loving support of family and friends to make these dreams come true. Owning a business that showcases and designs beautiful things truly defines who I am as both a leader and a professional creative. I believe organization is the key to success, and you will always get the best results by treating an event as if it were your own, and showing the appreciation for your team they deserve.

I love a flawlessly designed event. I love when the gratitude from a client is so overwhelming it’s hard to contain. Most of all, I love flowers. As much as I love sitting and designing linen and chair combinations and digging through rental options, nothing will ever compare to the natural beauty of a fresh cut bloom. I consider myself one of the luckiest people in the world to be able to work with such stunning creations and be able to turn them into something even more remarkable.

What makes me who I am are the people and things I love. First, and foremost, my amazingly supportive husband, Tyler, without whom this business and my life would not be what it is today. Thank you and I love you. We live in East Lansing with the sweetest and sassiest daughter in the world, Caroline (7), and our three adorable kitties, Dexter, Zumaya, and Clementine. We enjoy spending time at home and traveling as a family, spending time and being active with friends, being a dance mom, eating (not cooking), playing volleyball, reading, watching too much TV, and supporting our Spartans! Go Green! I have an incredibly close family, and my mom, especially, does so much for our family and business that I will never be able to properly show my gratitude.

I cannot wait to work alongside you to aesthetically create whatever your heart and my brain can dream up. Cheers!
