On this day in 1865, the Emancipation Proclamation which had been signed by Abraham Lincoln two years prior was finally enforced. And just like that, all people were free.

That did not mean they were suddenly treated as equal. Equality was a fight that would continue until June 19th, 2024 and beyond…

Happy Juneteenth, y’all. How lucky we are to be born free, these days 🌾

Remembering those who cannot be with you in your wedding day is very important to many couples and family.

The Missing Man Table or Fallen Comrade Table has been incorporated into many weddings and special occasions to honor military family we can no longer celebrate with.

There have been many different narratives written for the ceremony, but the symbolism is quite constant. It involves a table, usually set off to the side, with a single chair.

🇺🇸 The table is round to show our everlasting concern.
🇺🇸 The cloth is white symbolizing the purity of their motives when answering the call to serve.
🇺🇸 The single red rose reminds us of the lives of these Americans and their loved ones and friends who keep the faith, while seeking answers.
🇺🇸 The red ribbon symbolizes our continued uncertainty, hope for their return, and determination to account for them.
🇺🇸 A slice of lemon reminds us of the bitter fate of those captured or missing in a foreign land.
🇺🇸 A pinch of salt symbolizes the tears of our missing and their families who long for answers.
🇺🇸 The glass is inverted to symbolize their inability to share a toast.
🇺🇸 The chair is empty because loved ones are still missing.

"The Hitch is phenomenal. We had our wedding ceremony and reception at this beautiful venue and it couldn’t have turned out any better! It was so spacious, had a beautiful bridal suite, and it was a perfect open space! We were in a little pickle when we met but Natalie came in to save the day. They were so accommodating and made sure none of our plans had to change on our wedding day. It made a very stressful situation finally feel like everything would be alright. They made sure everything was taken care of and that us and our guests would be comfortable! The big cowboy was a big hit! We highly recommend them for any kind of party or event!"
