Great day for the Traughber 7th Grade Band! Clinic at VanderCook with Dr. Stacy Dolan then a day at Six Flags Great America.
Lucy Dolan, first dog of VanderCook, even made an appearance. Her pictures are blurry because she never stopped wiggling with happiness.

Huge congratulations are in order for our 8th Gr Symphonic Band. All of the full band rehearsals, new music reading, and intense concert schedule paid off beautifully. The students performed with outstanding musicianship, professionalism, and collaboration Friday at SuperState. This was Traughber’s 9th invitation to the event and we could not be more proud of the trust, growth, and ownership demonstrated by our kids.

Band friends in the greater Oswego area: we'd like to invite you to join the 2024 PrairieWinds Community Band! Consider being a part of this wonderful 30 year tradition!

The PrairieWinds Community Band is comprised of local high school and adult community band musicians. We have just two rehearsals and one performance to kick off PrairieFest (a summer festival/carnival sponsored by the Oswego Park District and situated right next to Oswego High School).

The PrairieWinds will be performing an outdoor concert at the PrairieFest Main Stage on Thursday, June 13 at 6pm. There will be a 5:30pm call time.

There will be two rehearsals, one on Thursday, June 6 and another on Monday, June 10. Both will be 6-8:30pm. at Thompson Junior High, 440 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego.

8th Gr Full Band, Tuesday, April 23, 7:00-8:30 am with Mr. Mike Miller

*Leave backpacks in the band hallway, and please sit in Susato Full Band Seats.

Mike Miller is a graduate of the University of Illinois (B.M.E.) and Northwestern University (M.M.E.). In his teaching career, Mr. Miller has taught every level of music student from 4th grade through college, most recently serving as Director of Bands at Field Middle School in Northbrook, Illinois. Under his direction, the Field Wind Ensemble performed at the University of Illinois Superstate Festival each year from 2012-23, being selected as the Junior High Honors Band in 2018 and 2023. The Wind Ensemble was also awarded a Superior Rating with High Honors from the Illinois Grade School Music Association State Band Contest in 2018, 2022, and 2023.
Mr. Miller currently works at Northwestern University as a Student Teaching Supervisor in the Music Education program and is a member of the National Band Association, the National Association for Music Education, and the Illinois Music Educators’ Association.
He is a recipient of multiple Citations of Excellence awards from the National Band Association and enjoys serving as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator within the Chicagoland Area. When he is not making music, he can be found on his bicycle or in his garden, where he breeds ornamental plants, holding a patent for one of his hybrids with five others in trials in Europe and the USA.
