It was a beautiful night filled with great music from "Sons of Sterling", delicious food, cold beer, and everyone having a good time at Legacy Square last night. Thank you Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce, sponsors, volunteers, and the community for sharing a fun start to the summer!!

This Saturday (6/10) come out to Legacy Square for a FREE community concert 🎸 Along with awesome music by Sons of Sterling, there will be a beer garden and food trucks for you to enjoy 🍻 It will be great fun for the whole family, we look forward to seeing you there!

Daylight Donuts & Betty Birzer announce, Congratulations to the City of Ottawa Parks Department for being selected as this week’s “unsung heroes “ and recipients of “Donuts for “DoGooders”! Nominated by Ginny Bromert for the great job they do in caring for our parks. Do you know how many that is and can you name them all?!?!? Forrest, Heritage, Legacy, City, Kanza, Roadside, Walton and Freedom are all of the City parks. They also care for the 3 cemeteries and 2 trails systems within the City of Ottawa. A huge task for the 8 people in the department! Meet Chad, DJ (superintendent), Greg, Travis, Ian (not pictured-Angelo, Tate, Debbie). THANK YOU for your diligent care of our park systems! 😀

Here’s one of my favorite photos of the day. Zak not only painted this huge mural but he also designed the structure to mount it to the wall. With a good plan and a little teamwork we made it happen.

Big things happening August 6th for the Unity Festival! Check out the United Way of Franklin County, KS page for more info.

Lucero Acoustic will be joining us on August 6th at our Unity Festival and you won't want to miss him!

Aaron Lucero has made performing music a large part of his life. From his early days of playing the trumpet in Gardner-Edgerton and JCCC music program, to touring Europe as a Kansas Ambassador of Music. His love of all things musical carried with him throughout the years and eventually he taught himself how to play the guitar. A few years later he was dropped into a situation where he was unexpectedly asked to perform one of his original songs while another music took a break during a performance. From that point on everything else just seemed to fall in to place. Now, 10 years later, he has been entertaining the community with his solo act performing at numerous establishments and honing his talents. He’s known for his wide range of genres and styles and it’s not uncommon to hear mash-up a few styles as well.

A great event is coming to Legacy Square this August 📅 Make sure to follow United Way of Franklin County, KS for all the important updates 🔔

We are excited to share with you details about our first annual Unity Festival at Legacy Square on August 6, 2022! Join us for an evening of fun as we come together to celebrate our strong community! With your wristbands enjoy our fun filled kid zone with a bounce house, face painting, corn hole, a dance performance by Spotlight Dance Academy followed by a concert by Aaron Lucero to end the night! We will also have Food Trucks such as Queen Pins and Blanco’s Barbecue and beverages in the Beer Garden available for purchase. Franklin County EMT and Fire Department will also be there to join in the fun. Bring the whole family and LIVE UNITED!
