I find critically important to identify which emotions are governing our everyday lives because with time, they become our personality. People can "feel" us.

If you are an entrepreneur, you need to become aware of your emotions. People will accept or reject you because of that invisible "mood" portrayed before they do business with you.

"According to Psychologists, there are four types of Intelligence:

1) Intelligence Quotient (IQ)
2) Emotional Quotient (EQ)
3) Social Quotient (SQ)
4) Adversity Quotient (AQ)

1. Intelligence Quotient (IQ): this is the measure of your level of comprehension. You need IQ to solve math's, memorize things, and recall lessons.

2. Emotional Quotient (EQ): this is the measure of your ability to maintain peace with others, keep to time, be responsible, be honest, respect boundaries, be humble, genuine and considerate.

3. Social Quotient (SQ): this is the measure of your ability to build a network of friends and maintain it over a long period of time.

People that have higher EQ and SQ tend to go further in life than those with a high IQ but low EQ and SQ. Most schools capitalize on improving IQ levels while EQ and SQ are played down.

A man of high IQ can end up being employed by a man of high EQ and SQ even though he has an average IQ.

Your EQ represents your Character, while your SQ represents your Charisma. Give in to habits that will improve these three Qs, especially your EQ and SQ.

Now there is a 4th one, a new paradigm:

4. The Adversity Quotient (AQ): The measure of your ability to go through a rough patch in life, and come out of it without losing your mind.

When faced with troubles, AQ determines who will give up, who will abandon their family, and who will consider su***de.

Parents please expose your children to other areas of life than just Academics. They should adore manual labour (never use work as a form of punishment), Sports and Arts.

Develop their IQ, as well as their EQ, SQ and AQ. They should become multifaceted human beings able to do things independently of their parents.

Finally, do not prepare the road for your children. Prepare your children for the road."

Created six years ago by Lake Park Town Manager John D’Agostino to foster acceptance and change in the Lake Park community, the Town of Lake Park Diversity & Inclusion Council has evolved and grown to recognize and celebrate all manners of diversity – race, ethnicity, gender, health status and more. As part of its goal to actively highlight the positive differences among the members of our community, the Council recognized Women’s History Month by presenting its inaugural awards to three women who have made a difference to the Council and in the community. The three recipients were Janet Perry, Executive Assistant to Lake Park’s Town Manager, who has used her skills and talents to provide administrative assistance to the Council; Karen Lau, a local business owner who has been instrumental in helping to guide the direction of the Council; and Claudia Roberts, Executive Director of Jeff Industries, who, along with her staff, created the Council’s logo. Congratulations to these three deserving women!

Wake up to a minute of mindfulness.
Yes, just a minute! If you can silence the monkey chatter in your mind first thing in the morning, the minute you wake up and purposely observe yourself, you will find out how powerful the rest of the day can be

Wake up to an expression of love.
Validate yourself first thing in the morning, tell yourself you are 100% lovable! How can you love others if you don’t love yourself.

Wake up to a brand new cup of coffee. Enjoy it to the fullest. Just remember it is not the one you had yesterday, that one is gone; it’s not the one you will have tomorrow, there’s no certainty that one will happen. The one thing you own is the present.

From individual effort to team success: Shared Mindset.
Today’s teams are different from the teams of the past: They’re far more diverse, dispersed, digital, and dynamic (with frequent changes in membership). But while teams face new hurdles, their success still hinges on a core set of fundamentals for group collaboration.

The basics of team effectiveness were identified by J. Richard Hackman, a pioneer in the field of organizational behavior who began studying teams in the 1970s. In more than 40 years of research, he uncovered a groundbreaking insight: What matters most to collaboration is not the personalities, attitudes, or behavioral styles of team members. Instead, what teams need to thrive are certain “enabling conditions.” In our Harvard’s studies, they found that three of Hackman’s conditions—a compelling direction, a strong structure, and a supportive context—continue to be particularly critical to team success. In fact, today those three requirements demand more attention than ever. But we’ve also seen that modern teams are vulnerable to two corrosive problems—“us versus them” thinking and incomplete information. Overcoming those pitfalls requires a fourth critical condition: a shared mindset.
