Today, Mountain Blossom will be closing at 3pm to attend a funeral for a close family member. Our hearts are broken for Kelly Mertz and our family. We will miss her very much. RIP

Pamela Osborne Raines, known affectionately as Pam to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2024, in the care of Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Born on December 11, 1955, in France, Pam's life was a vibrant tapestry of dedication, love, and service. A cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she will be remembered for her unwavering kindness and indomitable spirit.

Pam grew up under the nurturing care of her parents, Kenneth and Mary Poteet Osborne, and alongside her siblings in a household filled with warmth. Although she was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marcia Lynn Osborne, and her brother Dennis Button, her legacy continues through her loving family. She was a beacon of light and guidance for her children, Kenny Osborne (married to Rebecca) and Kelly Mertz (married to Michael). Her grandchildren, Ella Osborne and Ean Mertz, were the apples of her eye, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Pam's brother, Michael Button (married to Karen), along with her nieces and nephews, Courtney Burleson (married to Daniel), Gunner Merrix, Haileigh Osborne, and Felicia Merrix (married to Logan), will hold dear the memories of her unwavering support and the joyful times shared.

Education was a pursuit Pam valued deeply. She graduated from Giles High School with the class of 1974 and went on to earn a Master's Degree, an achievement that spoke volumes of her intellect and determination. Her professional life was marked by her role as a Budget Analyst for Virginia Tech, where she was not only respected for her expertise but also for her collaborative spirit and commitment to excellence.

Pam's sense of civic duty was as strong as her professional work ethic. She served as a Life Member of the Giles Rescue Squad, where her contributions were invaluable to both her colleagues and those in need. Additionally, her role in security in the South Tower at Virginia Tech showcased her dedication to the safety and well-being of the campus community.

Beyond her professional and civic engagements, Pam's life was enriched by her interests and passions. She was a doting grandmother who relished in attending to her grandbabies, nurturing their growth and celebrating their achievements. Her presence at family gatherings was a source of joy, and her laughter was infectious.

Pam's journey through life was one of purpose and joy. She was a pillar of strength to her family and a friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Pam's life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of crossing paths with her.

The family will greet friends in a time of visitation on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Kendall Funeral Home. There will be a Memorial Service where her life will be celebrated on Friday June 7, 2024 at 5:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gary Poff officiating. Following the service there will be a bereavement dinner at Giles Lifesaving and Rescue Squad Center. A guestbook is available to send condolences to the family by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com. The staff of Kendall Funeral Home are honored to serve the Osborne family.
