Customers wishing to patron ANY business:

When messaging(text, email, inbox), it is perfectly OKAY to SPEAK FIRST before your inquiry.

If, for whatever reason, you decide that you don’t want to move further in your booking or the entrepreneur is unavailable on your date requested, again, it is OKAY to respond adequately. Example: “I’ve decided to go another way. Thank you for your time.” OR a simple “Thank you” is really adequate as well.

When looking for a service and asking Facebook for suggestions is GREAT. What’s not great is thinking that person tagged SHOULD inbox YOU when you’re the one looking for THEIR service. Once you see someone you’re potentially interested in, send them a quick message. Most times, small businesses are ran by the owner so media, content, and all work pertaining to their business is usually done by them. Sending a quick message just letting them know that they were referred by such and such and you’re interested in whatever let’s them know you’re serious about your inquiry and that they’re spoken highly of because HONESTLY, I’m not going to inbox you when my business is tagged along with 100 other businesses, especially when you need me to do a service for you(personal choice).

Some customers are quick to bash a small business but could definitely be better patrons themselves. Let’s work on helping each other out. I need you as a customer as much as you need me as a business if you’re choosing my business. Being kind and courteous builds long lasting trust between customers who become CLIENTS and businesses that value them.

Transparent Post:

I cater. I have a business called Tastefully Mae’d Catering that was started in 2020. People always ask or tell me that I need a food truck or restaurant and my reply is always the same: I’m on God’s timing, not my own and I honestly have no desire to own a restaurant…well, let me take that back: I MIGHT would be inclined to do something no bigger than the Chinese restaurant with a couple tables or maybe a spot in the mall..something like that but I’m not pressed to do anything MORE than what I do now.

I say all the time I HATE making content. I just wanna cook. I absolutely love catering. I love turning my music on and putting my heart into these dishes, making them LOOK as good as they TASTE. I love a pretty plate as much as I love making the food I serve on it taste good.

This year kinda came in like a flood. I told myself I was going to go a little harder. I surrendered everything and asked God for TWO things specifically and intentionally. One was to blow my mind. Not pertaining to my business but my life. And I asked Him to show me ME in the way that He sees me.

I often wonder how I’m seen in our community or peers. I’ve questioned my capabilities to myself. I’ve wondered if people think I’m not putting in the work because I’ve been in business “this long and have nothing to show for it” like a building or truck but again and no disrespect meant to anyone but I’ve seen the posts about how people only support you until they think you’re doing better and then they stop. I’ve seen businesses close not only because of lack of support from US but also lack of staff. Shoot if I didn’t have my boys I don’t know if I’d be able to do some of the jobs I do because sometimes I need help. It makes no sense to me to start something or jump out on a limb with myself and my business/brand just because other people have me on THEIR timeline.

While I’m outgoing and extroverted I still have such a hard time believing in myself. Crazy right because I do so much: trying to build my business, ladies nights, adopt a senior, being available to my family and friends…I am a social butterfly. I can make you believe in yourself like nobody is better but when these big eyes are staring back at me in the mirror I am my worse enemy.

Fast forward to today:

I had the pleasure of catering for two time Grammy Award and Pulitzer Prize winner, Rhiannon Giddens. She is the banjo and viola player in the song Texas Hold’Em by Beyoncé. She is originally from Greensboro and wanted to come up to the Mill Prong Preservation here in Hoke County to record. She requested a BBQ/Soul Food menu and I was the caterer who provided that for her AND my sons and I got to watch her play and record for awhile! I was a fan girl to someone other than my boys for a brief moment and I was reminded of God’s promises to ME.

I said all that to say:

📍It doesn’t matter what it looks like to OTHERS.

📍Set your goals at YOUR pace and don’t deter from them.

📍When the time is right, I the Lord WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN. Isaiah 60:22

📍A man’s gift will make room for him and put him before great men Proverbs 18:16

I’m still just me. I’m still gonna treat every other job as if the clients I cater for are Rhiannon Giddens. My sister told me she was proud of me. My love language is Acts of Service and Words of Affirmation. She doesn’t even know how much that meant because I’ve ALWAYS not felt like my accomplishments were equal to hers or my brother’s (middle child syndrome is real) so for her to tell me how proud of me she is…yeah…

So I just wanted to remind MYSELF who I am:

My name is Jermikkie. I have TWO Associates degrees in Applied Science and General Education. I started my catering business FOUR years ago in the middle of a pandemic. I am the founder of theee best Ladies Nights in Hoke County and I and also the admin of the Adopt a Senior page for the county. I am a mom of a RISING FRESHMAN and SOPHOMORE of college and a very sweet boy named Tyson. I am a wife to my man, my man, my man. I am an encourager, motivator and advocate for women and all things black. AND…I would like to add that ya girl just upped the sco’ and did her first “celebrity” job💪🏾🥳🤸🏾‍♂️

Talk to me real nice🤌🏾💅🏾

My brother reminded me that instead of always rushing to the next thing I should take a moment and sit in each accomplishment. So excuse me while I sit for a few🥹

Lighter Lunch: Wraps and Croissants: So I made this Amazing Chicken Caesar Croissant: Grilled or fried chicken breast, romaine lettuce, Caesar dressing, bacon(optional) on a toasted croissant served with seasonal fruit OR fries. Turn it into a wrap.

Classic: Fish Friday: 2 Whitings, fries, 2 hush puppies and a side of Cole slaw (add fried shrimp to any plate or make a sandwich (Shrimp Po’Boy or Whiting sandwich with tartar sauce, lettuce and cheese

Surf ‘n Turf (steak and shrimp) grits bowl; steak and shrimp with peppers and spinach served with brown gravy over cheesy grits.
