The Reno Rodeo will be accepting entries for the 2024 Kids’ Day art contest, May 13–27. Kids aged 13 and under are encouraged to test their artistic abilities for the chance to win a prize and be featured in this year’s Kids’ Day program.

“Each year we’ve pushed to make the Kids’ Day event bigger and better than the year before,” said Violet Richards, Kids’ Day Chair. “We are constantly seeking innovative ways to engage with the community, and this year’s art contest presents the perfect opportunity for families to showcase and celebrate their children’s creativity and leave a lasting impression on the Reno Rodeo.”

Interested artists up to the age of 13 can submit their best artwork featuring our region’s iconic Sierra Nevada mountains.

Entries can be sent to [email protected] or dropped off at the Reno Rodeo Association office Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The deadline for submissions is May 27.

Artists at The Generator will pick the top three for each age category (ages 8–13 years and 7 and under) for the Reno Rodeo committee to select the final contest winner. The winning artwork will be featured in the 2024 Kids’ Day program.

Kids’ Day is set for Sunday, June 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. where the whole family can enjoy a fun-filled day of western-inspired adventures. The free event is jam-packed with kid-friendly activities including games, art, square dancing, face painting, horseback rides, the 8th Annual Mutton Bustin’ Championship, animals to interact with and a lot more. Children will learn about Western lifestyle, agriculture and safety with interactive vendors and live displays throughout the Reno Livestock Events Center Indoor Arena.

To improve safety and streamline venue access, the Reno Rodeo Association will enforce a clear bag policy at the Reno-Sparks Livestock and Events Center from June 19-29.

"Here at the Reno Rodeo, keeping everyone safe is our top priority. That's why we're implementing a clear bag policy as part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all our fans,” said George Combs, General Manager of the Reno Rodeo. “We want everyone to have a great time while feeling secure, and this policy is just one piece of the puzzle in our comprehensive security plan at the Livestock Events Center."

These are the bags that are permitted:
- Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12"
- One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bag or similar)
- Small clutch bags or purses, with or without a handle or strap, that do not exceed 8”x11"
** Exceptions made for diaper bags and medically necessary items after inspection.

Prohibited bags include, but are not limited to: briefcases; backpacks, cinch bags, and f***y packs that are not clear and/or exceed the size restriction; luggage of any kind; computer bags/cases; camera bags/cases; binocular bags/cases; or any bag larger than the permissible size.

Fans will continue to be able to carry items allowed onto the grounds in a permissible clear bag, such as binoculars and small hand-held cameras (video cameras of any kind and professional cameras with a detachable lens are prohibited).
