This Day in Armwrestling History…

October 3rd, 1970 – The International Federation of Arm Wrestlers (IFAW) World Armwrestling Championships are held in New York City, in conjunction with the Mr. Olympia bodybuilding contest. Arnold Schwarzenegger reaches the pinnacle of the bodybuilding world, while Connecticut’s Maurice Baker wins the heavyweight world armwrestling title for the third year in a row. Moe appears to be way ahead of the other competitors, with none of his matches lasting more than a couple of seconds. In the 200 lbs and under class, Virginia’s Steve Stanaway beats all of his opponents and claims his first world title.
