Guiding Footsteps

I bought these shoes in 2011 at the Greenwich sidewalk sales. They were $75 and a major financial investment for 16 year old me. I knew, when I saw them they would be an important piece to me for years to come.

These shoes have seen me through many seasons. Sorority recruitment, conference presentations, first days of school, I reserve them for when I need a bit of good luck.

Four years ago when I first opened Three Roots I took a chance on some branding photos and these shoes were the only choice for that day. I needed their constant reassurance that this major investment was going to work out.

4 years and 50+ weddings I needed these shoes once again.

Choosing to open Three Roots at the Ice House was both lightning fast, and slow to develop. My team and I knew we were working towards something greater than what we had; but, we couldn’t pinpoint what.

As my same photo friend from four years ago came to take these updated branding images I knew wearing these shoes, and harnessing their good luck was a non-negotiable. They have seen me through many seasons and adventures, and this new one needed their personal historic guidance.

As I welcome you all into this next chapter for Three Roots I want to also remember where we started. Creating intimate micro-wedding florals out of bud vases. We have slowly, intentionally, and methodically built our offerings and the wedding florals we design are a testament to our learnings and growing as a studio.

I know this new studio will be the next step on that journey of evolution and expansion, and I cannot wait to continue partnering with you and yours to compose intentional moments of floral joy.

Three Roots at The Ice House

Elevating Your Wedding Flower Experience

Since 2021 Three Roots has been partnering with discerning couples to curate intentional moments of floral joy.

From designing in heirloom vessels, to sourcing specialty flowers, we leave no detail left unturned for our clients.

Beginning with our consultation our collaboration begins with a meeting of the minds where I learn how my team and I can best bring your unique vision to life.

We discuss colors, textures, energies, and inspiration sources for your wedding environment and floral designs to ensure the presented proposal captures the story your wedding day will tell.

From here we plan style meetings and continue to dig into the details…yes even details so small as the specific color of ribbon for each bouquet.

As your wedding day approaches we build a custom timeline to ensure you receive flowers in a timeframe that compliments your other vendors, (even bringing extra flowers to share with our photography friends).

Our team of incredible designers work the day of your wedding to bring installations to life, place centerpieces and other details on tables, and most importantly provided floral support to you and yours however you may need it…sometimes that means an on demand boutonniere bar!

We are tireless in our pursuit of perfection to ensure your wedding is effortless and enjoyable, there is no greater joy for us than bringing your visions and dreams to life.

Our 2025 books are open and we would love nothing more to partner with you and yours in this impactful wedding day detail.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

I always ask WHO your photographer is in our consultation call so I can understand HOW to design your wedding flowers.

Does your photographer capture details on a micro or a macro level?

Will the photos be more documentary style or posed editorial in nature?

Are the colors true to life, light and airy, or cinemagraphic?

Believe it or not all of these factors DO determine how I design your flowers.

Why? Because I am partnering with YOU and your photographer to bring together your wedding day story, it is a once in a lifetime event and you deserve a team of vendors who work well together and create in harmony.

From providing flat lay flowers and ribbons, to selecting flowers that compliment your photographers style there is no stone left unturned for a Three Roots wedding.

We cherish the opportunity to create wedding floral designs for your partner and care how the photos will look twenty years from now! Collaboration is key, and is guaranteed to make your wedding day a shining success.

Fall. Is. Coming.

At my heart I’m a cool weather girl, and a cool weather floral designer. You’ve heard me drone on endlessly about spring but get ready for ALL THINGS AUTUMN!

Crackly seed pods, textural grasses, iridescent leaves, geometric blossoms, oh the odes I can craft with autumnal jewels.

It is no surprise that our first non-flowery flowers wedding was a defining moment in our development, and the designs we have coming this fall will be equally as spectacular.

Why do I love fall weddings so much? Well, there is something extra special in the air from September to November.

Maybe it is the cool breezes, or the bounty of fleeting botanical materials, it is hard to put my finger on it but fall is special.

Thank you ALL for an incredible 2024 so far, the team and I cannot wait to bring our remaining events to life!

Sara & Matt 06.15.24 at Candlewood Inn, Brookfield CT

Collaborating with Sara and Matt on their wedding day this past spring was a joy from start to finish. Their shared vision for a timeless, and updated, coastal wedding nestled on Candlewood Lake sprang to life through a series of abundant designs featuring seasonal garden highlights.

From the hydrangea and privet rich ceremony crescent, to Sarah’s abundant bouquet brimming with garden roses, peonies, Tweedia, and delphinium there was no shortage of floral beauty to surround the newlyweds, their family, and friends.

I know I use the word “joy” a lot when I discuss our wedding day design process and couples and it is because those we work with are the kindest humans on the planet and our team has the best time bringing the visions of these couples to life.

Sara and Matt were NO exception and there are few things I would rather do on a wedding day than make on demand boutonnières to ensure photos are perfect from start to finish. No really, this crew was SO full of joy and love that all of the hugging pre-ceremony demanded fresh boutonnières for the entire wedding party.

Sending love, sending hugs, and sending so much joy to the Napoli’s!

My high school demanded a lot of us - not just academically but as individual citizens and humans. One of the guiding philosophies of my school was being quixotic.

Now, while that word means lofty in a negative tone my school strove to harness the positive of that word and encouraged us to dream larger than life and to work towards the impossible; knowing we would make it happen.

Three Roots is my quixotic dream and has strong ties back to my early explorations and understanding of what it meant to be a working creative.

While the work is transcendental inspired (another high school introduction) my business pursuits are quixotic and this energy guides my dreams and expectations for our work.

When you work with my team you are working with more than a wedding florist. You are working with a team of dream-inspired, and impossible chasing artists who love to work towards the lofty goal of capturing the ephemeral beauty of wedding day story through fine arts floral design.

What does that mean for you? We hold ourselves to a high artistic standard and are constantly asking more of ourselves to consistently improve and enhance your wedding flower experience…and it is an experience.

Interested in joining in on this windmill chasing adventure? Send me a DM to begin planning your wedding or event flowers!

A Fond Farewell to Studio A. Because…THREE ROOTS IS MOVING

My first independent studio space, and nest for the early Three Roots years has been a true home to the team and I these past 4 years.

However, we are onto the next chapter…and a NEW space!

We will be relocating to Norwalk, CT and upgrading from 220 sqft to 1000 sqft. (Yes, I produced all of those stunning events in a micro studio, no I won’t explain it further because it was magic.)

The next few weeks the team and I will be moving and setting up our new space. What does that mean for you?

Larger Show Stopping Weddings!

Now that we have an improved work location we are able to accommodate the intricate and multi-layered designscapes I love and we are excited to dig into our 2025 season and to continue booking sky scraping wedding design stories.

In-Person Meetings

Yup! Zoom will no longer be the default - unless that is your preference. I cannot wait to meet more of you face to face for consultations and style calls.

Trial Meetings

A new service we will be offering to clients who are interested in seeing their wedding flowers ahead of their big day.

Bouquet Drops

Keep an eye on this page and .roots.studio to hear when we will be releasing our next drop! Typically once a month or around holidays.

This process has been a labor of love and came to fruition faster than expected. I mean it when I say, this growth, expansion and dream chasing is NOT possible without all of you, your support of the studio, and choice of our designs for your wedding days. The joy it brings me to know that all of you believe in Three Roots and the work we do fills me with gratitude it can be hard to express at times. Thank you, from me and the team for allowing us to continue growing…we’re just getting started 💗✨🌸🌞

Dreaming of June…

It is true, I *do* have a favorite month for flowers and weddings, and it is June.

Dogwood, roses, scabiosa, campanula, peony, delphinium, tweedia, clematis, ranunculus…I mean the list of locally available flowers if both endless and wildly dreamy.

Last June we had the wonderful opportunity to creat soft pink flower magic for Meghan & Dan everything for their wedding from boutonnières to bud vases was sourced from Connecticut and the final design suite was soft, romantic, and garden-centric. Really and truly a mid-June wedding flower dream.

So…if you ask me to design your wedding flowers in June, I’ll definitely say yes.

As the studio has grown so has my affinity for multi-faceted weddings. Having the opportunity to decorate from top to bottom is an exciting endeavor for the team and I as we have a great opportunity to really dig into the details and build out custom design stories.

What’s even better? You have have sprawling and inspired wedding designs and still utilize 100% American grown flowers! Each piece of floral and foliage for this event came from our CT & CA partner farms and it was a wonderful display of how elegant and abundant local flowers can be!

Last season the team and I created a series of arrangements ranging from bouquets to beam wraps, tall centerpieces, miniature moss moments, a sprawling ceremony arch and custom sweetheart table installation…to name a few elements. It truly was an outstanding day of design.

Everything was artfully captured by and showcases the many layers to this design suite. The texture of the moss is crisp enough you can almost feel it through the photos!

2024 & 2025 are filled with these special design options and we cannot wait to continue bringing these visions to life; and see where else our designs will take us!

The Season I Almost Quit Floral Design

Instagram is a snapshot, moments in time we choose to share with you. It can never be the full picture.

2024 was hard on the wedding industry. Bookings were down across the board, budgets were tightening, and it felt the space available to thrive in the field was shrinking.

I took time during the fall of 2023 to consider if 2024 would be my last. I began to research PhD programs and explore if there were other avenues to explore in life.

In reality, there was no way I could leave this work behind.

The work of connecting with you all, telling your stories, and being of service to the couples we know, and will continue to meet.

So…what did I do?

I began to delve into the “Why” and it helped turn around and crystallize what is to come for Three Roots.

2024 was slow, but it has so far been the best season for us! The designs out of the world, and grander than ever before…and that trend is continuing into 2025.

So, I didn’t close shop, I didn’t take up less space I instead began to ask for more.

More connections, more stories, more opportunities to be with you all crafting and creating dazzling floral delights for you.

There is truly nothing I love more than being invited into your wedding planning process to help elevate your day in celebration of you and yours. The magic of this field will never escape me and I cannot wait to see how Three Roots continues to evolve!

4 Years, 2 Weddings, 1 Spectacular Family

The best part of working weddings is the relationships we collect and foster along the way.

Since 2021 Ally, Kaitlin, and Kristin have been at the heart of Three Roots inviting us to be part of their family wedding days, pushing us to improve our skill set, and championing our studio growth.

They are one in a million people we consider ourselves lucky to know and love.

From Ally’s 2022 wedding at Harkness to Kaitlin’s 2024 wedding at Ocean Cliff we have built a dynamic relationship that spans beyond “just” wedding flowers.

They are the kindest souls, endlessly helpful to those they care for, and gracious in all they approach. Truthfully, one of a kind humans that make the journey of wedding planning worthwhile.

Always and forever a Three Roots family we are so fortunate to have them near and dear.

A secret garden in the heart of Fairfield County.

The Garden House at Keeler Tavern is my environmental muse. I am entranced by the gardens, the architecture grounds, and the wonderful energy surrounding the space.

While we don’t play favorites in the wedding world I will say “Yes” to as many Keeler Tavern weddings as possible. It takes a lot for me to pass on inquiries for this space.

If you’re on the hunt for a wedding venue (and a wedding florist) I would certainly put Keeler Tavern on your list. Perfect for weddings up to 100, ideally situated for a weekend escape if truly is the best spot for an immersive and intimate garden wedding.

Your Wedding, Your Way

When I tell you Three Roots is bespoke, this is what I mean…

Harvesting more than 50 sun tinted limelight hydrangeas from my family garden the team and I built a one of a kind hydrangea drenched wedding starburst for Erica & Chris. This 12ft structure sat on the grounds of their ceremony site and we filled it with seasonal garden spoils to create a one of a kind ceremony feature. Truly, we will never create this again.

Inside the reception space were hand carved (by Erica) candleholders and place cards, all accented by intentionally harvested dahlia bud vases.

Yes, intentionally harvested…walking the grounds with Peggy at Belden Hill Gardens I gathered specific flowers for this design suite.

When I tell you the work produced by the team and I is thoughtful, curated, and true to you and yours THIS is the level of attention to detail I am describing.

Your wedding, your way…no excuses.

Bouquet Statements in Petite Compositions

Often as a wedding florist I look for opportunities to build larger than life statements. However, for this bouquet, I took on the challenge of a miniature.

A simple compositions of
- Astilbe
- “Do Tell” Peonies
- Orlaya

…that was all. 3 ingredients, 12 stems, and intentional weaving brought this piece to life. Relying on texture, movement, and various compositional weights this miniature bouquet sprang to life effortlessly on site during the photoshoot.

I’ve recently been entranced by the small details and how to capture the magic in those, grand statements are wonderful, but the minute also make an impact if you know where to look.

I am unsure if a bouquet such as this would be handed off to a bride, maybe it is a touch too demure. However, I think it makes a wonderful statement to walk out with at the end of the event…especially if you’ve tucked your ceremony bouquet away for preservation.

Alternatively, maybe this is the bouquet you use for your first look, some incidental, but beautiful, to accent that moment, but not detract from that emotional moment…I like to think wedding members deserve all the bouquets in the world.

Forever grateful to have an opportunity to explore my visual medium, and play with design I’m hopeful to have more experimentations this season.

The Classics.

Who doesn’t love a bundle of peonies in early June? Soft pillowy blossoms that smell wonderful, these flowers are always a delight.

We’ve been fortunate to have an amazing peony season in CT this year and we have been able to treat our couples to a wonderful assortment of these special garden jewels.

Regardless of if you select a classic cream bunch? Or a slightly more energetic pink, fuchsia , or blush? These flowers are always a special choice.

Frilly, Textural, Vibrant, and Seasonal…a few words I would use to describe this piece.

Designing a wedding bouquet is a delicate dance of honoring a client’s wishes while also paying homage to the season at hand.

For this piece I took the best of June by showcasing peonies, roses, snapdragons, and sweetpea foliage to create a multi-dimensional piece that was playful and elegant wrapped into a singular package.

Learning to honor dichotomies I am always striving to create compositions that challenge the expected by inviting someone to linger a little closer and look a little longer.

More thoughts to come on this piece in the coming weeks.
