Our Story
Inspired by classic Southern décor and featuring a unique mix of elegance and rustic charm, Lola’s Celebration Venue in historic Saluda, N.C. is the ideal space for your next event.
Lola’s includes a multi-room upstairs space that is perfect for social gatherings of all types — birthday parties, family reunions, wedding receptions, anniversary parties, art exhibitions, business retreats, holiday soirees and more.
Five historically-refurbished rooms plus a lovely new balcony allow us to comfortably accommodate your parties, from a cozy group of a dozen friends to larger and grander celebrations of more than 100 people!
The venue also features a new outdoor deck — overlooked by our balcony — that is the perfect open-air venue for weddings, dances and parties. Our deck can accommodate up to 50 people, either incorporating tables and chairs for a sit-down meal or just keeping the floor clear for dancing! At one end of the deck, the terrace of our charmingly-refurbished barn is the perfect location for a small band or DJ. Meanwhile, a lovely waterfall at the opposite end of the deck adds to the natural beauty of our outdoor setting.
Constructed in 1905, the building currently housing Thompson’s Store on the ground floor and Lola’s Celebration Venue on the top floor originally served as a boarding house for the tough and hardy railroad workers who maintained the Saluda Grade, the steepest mainline railway in the United States. While the railroad was crucial to the growth of Saluda, support also came from numerous wealthy families from the lowlands of South Carolina and Georgia. These families built summer homes in Saluda, seeking relief in the cool North Carolina mountains during the hottest months of the year.
The room names at Lola’s are a tribute to the communities from which many of those wealthy families came — Charleston, Columbia, Holly Hill, and Walterboro in South Carolina and Savannah in Georgia.
