This. Wedding. 😍 The Ruins is one of the most stunning, uniquely beautiful venues I've ever had the pleasure to design in. Think industrial meets 19th century opulence. I mean, I didn't even realize that could be a thing! But it is pure ✨m a g i c✨

It was a dream bringing a warm peach floral vision that complemented the rich blue and golden tones in the space to life for artist Francesca and their now hubby Alex! I couldn't have done it without this killer team of vendors and freelance designers:

Loved creating this PNW woodland-inspired design for Kelly & Sebastian's summer wedding. One of the many things I love about using locally-grown, seasonal flowers is that they look right at home in any outdoor setting - because they are! I found some of the same flowers I used in the design growing right on the (absolutely stunning) venue grounds.

Looking for a florist for your wedding or special event in the Seattle area? My books are still currently OPEN for 2024 summer and fall weddings - but spring is completely booked! Link to the inquiry form is in my bio.

As my first full wedding season draws to a close, I can't help but think of how it started. In early April, I took the lead in organizing a Spring Wildflower themed styled shoot, and it remains one of my favorite experiences of the year (and there have been lots of highlights!)

Inspired by a tour of Cathedral Ballard, I wanted to play with the juxtaposition of our natural PNW beauty and the industrial chic space, inviting spring blooms inside to appear as if they were growing right out of the walls and the floor.

I worked with Eva from , Sarah from .weddings and Brittany from to put together a stellar team of vendors to bring this vision to life. The vibe of the whole shoot was creative, collaborative, enriching and fun - this was truly a dream team! (Seriously, engaged couples looking for vendors, I highly recommend following the folks on this list!)

Every one of the tulips and daffodils are from my garden, supplemented with additional seasonal blooms and foliage from . This is a sustainable shoot using chicken wire, moss, a bouquet egg, and flower frogs as the reusable mechanics. Quick shout out to .lytle of .education - this is the first hanging installation I ever created and her tutorial video taught me everything I needed to know to make it happen.

A big heartfelt thank you to all of the people who worked together on this shoot:

Over 100 fluffy-as-clouds late-season peonies, airy wildflowers with gracefully curving stems, and classically beautiful peach garden roses came together to create a whimsical and romantic design for these two lovely ballet dancers.

Bella and I were a natural style match and bringing this design to life for her and Marcus was such a privilege - I loved every second!

I couldn't have done it without my talented team for the event - Naomi of and Ashley from - who helped make this romantic vision a stunning reality.

So in love with this gorgeous photo of last weekend's locally-grown bridal bouquet! 😍

See those swoon-worthy, glowing peach zinnias in the upper left-hand corner? They're one-of-a-kind, grown by my dear friend Margaret at as part of her zinnia breeding program! They have been my go-to peach beauties alllll summer. 🌼

Lisianthus are from and all of the other foliage and flowers are from my very own garden. 😊

Just got professional photos back from the first elopement of the year! 😍 The bride was so sweet and it was a pleasure to make this petite winter white bouquet for her and coordinating boutonniere for her groom, with subtle pops of my homegrown dried lavender.

One of the advantages of growing my own flowers is that during the growing season, I can put together these lovely elopement sets quickly, using primarily blooms from my own garden + foraged foliage.

Looking for a wedding florist? I have just one weekend open in August and a couple in September for 2023! (with some additional availability for elopements like this one!) Link in bio for more info.

I had so much fun doing this mini styled shoot with my uncles while they were visiting last weekend. They live in California and I haven't seen them since before the pandemic; they hadn't seen my son since he was an infant. I was so happy when my Uncle Tony told me they wanted to visit us for his birthday!

Tony (on the left) has loved, supported and encouraged me my entire life. His husband Eston is one of those humans who radiates kindness, and you can tell as soon as you meet him. I was thrilled when they agreed to be my boutonniere style models! These two are so much in love and it just radiates from their photos. 😍

Made entirely of West-coast grown flowers, Eston's pocket square is built on a base of ivy and dusty miller, with deconstructed alstromeria, and my garden-grown hellebore is the focal flower. Tony's traditional boutonniere highlights the subtle textural bits from Eston's pocket square - sea holly, hydrangea flowers, and my garden-grown snowdrops.

Sometimes, plans have to change. Especially when you're both a mom and a small business owner.

πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦πŸ’πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦πŸ’πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦πŸ’

My son started Kindergarten this year and has had some adjustment struggles these past few weeks - transitioning to a full school day from half day co-op preschool is hard! While things are looking up now, I want to make sure I'm available to support him whenever he needs it.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ«πŸ“šπŸŽ’πŸ‘¨β€πŸ«πŸ“šπŸŽ’

So, I've decided to scale back my garden plan and floral subscriptions this year, and to focus on growing the wedding and event side of my business instead. I am still offering a limited number of spring subscriptions to individuals and businesses, but I will not offer any full growing season subscriptions in 2023. It's much easier for me to commit to a focused weekend of event work a couple of times a month (when my kiddo's dad is able to take on the primary parenting role) rather than several regular, weekly deliveries. Right now, I'm also feeling most excited about that part of my business - so it makes sense to lean into it!

πŸ‘°β€β™€οΈπŸŒΈπŸŽ‰πŸŒΊπŸ’ƒπŸŒΉ

I've replaced the full season subscription on my website with a 3- delivery monthly spring option, which will be easier for me to work into my schedule (and subscribers budgets!) Check out the new options on my website: www.curlygirlgardens.com/2023-floral-subscriptions

The new year seems like the perfect time to introduce myself to the folks who have just joined me on my flower journey, via a look back at some of my favorite memories and creations from 2022. So, hello new friends and followers! I'm Jess, the curly-haired girl who gardens...and arranges flowers, and makes art. πŸ˜‰

2022 was my second year in business and it was filled with growth, lessons learned, and some incredible new experiences. Highlights include creating my first floral tattoos for an amazing, creatively-enriching styled shoot with ***rphotog and , getting to work with the uniquely stunning pitcher plants from , and doing the floral design for my first engagement shoot, baby shower, and small courthouse wedding.

πŸ“ΈπŸŒΉπŸ‘°πŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ’πŸ€΅πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸŒΉπŸ₯‚

I learned that I thrive on these creative challenges and I plan to lean into them in 2023. That means cutting back a little on the flower varieties I'm growing in the garden, one-time flower deliveries, and subscriptions in favor of pursuing more opportunities to explore, play, and create with flowers through events, custom art commissions, workshops, and photoshoots. I am so excited to see what fun new experiences and opportunities 2023 has in store!

🎨🌷🌺🌻🌼🌹🎨

Whether you've been following me since the beginning or have just joined, I'm so glad you're here! The community of florists, growers, and flower lovers I've connected with is a huge part of what makes what I do so much fun. Thank you for coming along for the ride, flower friends!
