It is one of our favorite times of the year this week. It is the Tennessee State 4H Horse show! It is inspiring to have all these young equestrians on the Celebration Grounds and in Cooper Steel Arena.

The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration (TWHNC) has released the class schedule for the upcoming 86th Annual Celebration. The Celebration will begin on Wednesday August 21, 2024 and run through the following Saturday, August 31st. The class sheet mirrors 2023 in terms of what classes are offered.

The only changes are a slight reorder of the classes on the first Saturday morning and a move of the Juvenile Park Performance from Thursday evening to Friday evening, which in turn moved the Amateur Mares & Geldings Park Performance from Friday to Thursday.

The entry deadline for the 86th Annual Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration is 5:00PM CST on July 23, 2024. The Celebration will take entries in person at the Blue Ribbon Circle Club on July 22nd and 23rd and will once again this year accept online entries.

Local farm to table

It was the opening day today of the season for the Bedford County Farmers Market. Several tables were filled with fresh produce of all kinds. The market will be open at 2:30 to until vendors are ready to leave each Thursday through September at the Celebration pavilion across from Cooper Steel Arena.

Pick Your Partner Classes at Spring Fun Show

Shelbyville, TN – On Friday, May 24 and Saturday, May 25, 2024, the 54th Annual Spring Fun Show will feature the popular “Pick Your Partner” classes. The Pleasure class will be class 39 on Friday night and the Performance class will be class 63 on Saturday night. These classes are open to teams of youth, amateurs, and/or trainers. Any combination is acceptable. One team member will ride first way and their partner will ride second way. Entries for these classes can be made online and are due by 1pm each day at EnterMyWalkingHorse.com. Teams are encouraged to enter ASAP and then start soliciting sponsors (much like a walk-a-thon) to support them in the class. This is a fun way for everyone to help support the industry as all online donations go directly to the Foundation for the Advancement & Support of the Tennessee Walking Show Horse (FAST). A “Fan Favorite” award will be given for the team that raises the most money by the end of the class. Fans can support their favorite riders by making donations to their team page, which can be found at www.twhbea.com/partner.
Again, all entries must be submitted by 1pm each day at EnterMyWalkingHorse.com. Once entries are confirmed, a link to each team fundraising page will be posted online at www.twhbea.com/partner.

The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration announces the preliminary class entry deadline.

Entries will be accepted for the for the 86th annual Celebration on July 22nd and 23rd until 5:00 pm each day at the Blue Ribbon Circle Club on the Celebration grounds. Entries will close July 23rd, 2024 at 5:00 pm. Late entries will not be accepted. The Celebration will also be accepting online entries again this year.

Our annual porch series is switching up this month to a park instead of the porch. The African American Heritage Society of Williamson County is proud to present “A Talk in the Park” on Monday, May 13th at 6 pm. The event will be held at The Hayes House in the Park at Harlinsdale Farm - 239 Franklin Rd. The featured speaker is Jesse Dotson, an area native and award-winning Walking Horse Trainer. The Dotson Family has owned land in Thompson’s Station since 1889.

The 86th Annual Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration RV Policy:
Camping on site continues to be a popular option for our Celebration fans, and we want to maximize that experience. We are excited to announce that we will have all new shower houses for each of our three RV Parks for the 86th Celebration.
New Reservation policy for 2023 Celebration:

• All previous occupants that booked for 10 days or more last year will be guaranteed a spot if they book and pay by June 1st.
• All previous occupants that booked spots for less than 10 days last year will have the opportunity to reserve a spot for 10 days or more, and must pay by July 1st.
• Anyone interested in booking for 10 days or more has until July 15th to reserve and pay for a spot.
• On July 16th and after The Celebration will start taking request for reservations that are less than 10 days. Reservations with higher number of days reserved will have priority.
• We intend to have all spots reserved by August 1st.
• RV Reservations will be $50 per night.
