It is so crucial to shop small to help these families stay in business.
We’ve heard from several of our small business friends that this summer has been extremely slow. The economy is having an impact on small businesses, and your favorites likely need your help right now. Summer is always slow for many businesses that are not in tourist areas, but this summer seems to be even worse. I’ve heard some local businesses are down as much as 20-50% from where they should be. Unfortunately, expenses don’t drop with the economy. It’s tough to hang on during difficult times and we are bound to lose some of our favorite businesses as a result, but there are ways you can help!!
1) SHOP SMALL LOCAL BUSINESSES whenever possible. You can choose to shop local businesses. It’s sometimes a bit less convenient, but it can really help. An additional 10 customers can sometimes double the sales in a small business and change a negative day into a positive one.
2) BUY AHEAD FOR GIFTS — We have many customers who stop in and stock up on locally-made items and small gifts that they store away for gift giving. Then, when you have a friend, neighbor or co-worker who needs a pick-me-up, you can grab something out of the closet. Great idea!
3) WRITE A REVIEW — This takes so little time, but can make a big difference in a lot of ways. Not only is it a great way for people to get information about a business, but the more good reviews on GOOGLE can actually help a business’s ranking on social media.
4) SHARE, SHARE, SHARE — It’s long been known that word of mouth is the BEST advertising, and that is completely in your hands. So, share posts your favorites stores post and tell everyone you know about your favorite stores. Check out the Shop Small Shop Local Challenge for ideas on sharing your favorite businesses.
5) PURCHASE GIFT CARDS — Buy gift cards from your favorite businesses to share with friends and family as gifts. They also make great gifts for business contacts. Or purchase gift cards ahead for holiday shopping later in the year. Gift cards are always a great way to share your favorite businesses!
We’ve all got to support our favorite local businesses, because they are what makes a community unique, and when you spend money in a local business, the majority of the money you spend stays in our community!

With thousands of people walking through this event and many vendors selling their hard work and beautiful wares it is also up to you get their attention, don't just sit there waiting for them to approach you, lure them in with your style and your confidence in your product. Just a friendly reminder that we no longer host our event at the gorgeous @whippoorwillfarm but rather this weekends Beer & Brat/Marketon the Ridge is held in Downtown Sparta! So if you are looking for a weekend of not only shopping but so much fun, be downtown Sparta for extended hours, That's right we are there both nights until 11 p,m So Friday 4-11pm and Saturday 11-11pm.
The tractor pull ride is in full swing. Bring the kids, shop til you drop and live music 🎶 happening too...
