In the fall 2014, DCYOP adopted the Children’s Orchestra project at Garrison Elementary School. The Children’s Orchestra project is modeled after El Sistema, Venezuela’s renowned youth orchestra program that uses music as a vehicle for social change. The Children’s Orchestra project aims to enhance DCPS students’ interest in learning, strengthen their connection to school, and improve their academ

ic and social skills. DCYOP has received funding to expand the program to a second DCPS elementary school beginning spring 2015.
