Today is Patty's last day! We thank her for all of her years of dedicated service and wish her all the best in her retirement!
On April 1st, 2022, after over thirty years of dedicated service at Samaritan, Patty Snyder will leave the building for the last time as an employee. Patty started her Samaritan Career in February of 1990 as a nurse’s aid on the 5th floor of the Samaritan Keep Home. Two years later Patty accepted a position at the hospital in the MIS department doing data entry. Patty worked there until a layoff in December of 1997. In February of 1998 Patty once again accepted a position at Samaritan Medical Center, this time as a nursing assistant in the Pediatrics department. Finally, in 2004, Patty accepted the position as Gift Shop Manager and has remained the manager for the last 18 years.
When asked what her greatest accomplishment has been as the gift shop manager Patty explained it has been representing the Samaritan Auxiliary. Patty went on to say she spent time educating the people at the hospital on what the auxiliary does and the various generous contributions the Samaritan Auxiliary has made to Samaritan. Patty states that she has learned a lot over the years, overseeing the gift shops at Samaritan Summit Village, Samaritan Keep Home and the hospital as well as Starbucks. Patty explained she learned a lot about buying by listening to the employees, hearing stories of where they had traveled and things they had seen, finding them, and then offering them for sale in the gift shop. Patty stated that the employees have had a lot of great ideas. Patty explained though, that the “golden opportunity” has been working with the volunteers who have helped her in the day-to-day operation of the gift shop.
When asked what she is most looking forward to in her retirement Patty stated she looks forward to spending more time with her family, doing some traveling and seeing new ventures. Though Patty is excited to retire she stated that she will miss the people the most. Going on to say, she has made a lot of friends at Samaritan. Patty stated that she would like to encourage everyone to stop by the gift shop and welcome the new manager, Heidi Hill, saying “she will take care of you”.
