This birthday was supposed to happen 1 year ago and I could be bitter about that but actually, waiting a year made it that much better. I was able to celebrate 1 & 2 and now know what my future will look like until they tell me to stop or decide they want in on the planning F U N ❤️

This whole birthday was inspired by a little red plastic hat that we served ice cream in at our wedding and still have a couple hundred as souvenirs🧢. Yes, I held onto them, because even back then I was dreaming of this 1st birthday ⚾️. No, didn’t get a picture of them, at the wedding or the birthday 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not every idea was executed to perfection but the smiles and fun were the actual stamp of approval. I will savor every moment of this milestone F.O.R.E.V.E.R.

Also, get yourself some friends who take pictures without even been asked, because they literally saved me.

Anyone else have a C A R obsessed toddler??? We are usually posted up at a cross street 2-3 times a week. I stopped counting how many times I’ve said “Oh look at that one!” and am now that mom yelling “Slow Down!“ at the teenagers driving above 15mph. If you ever see a toddler with his mom + a glass of Sav Blanc, hanging out at an intersection please just H.O.N.K. PLEASE.

It’s BiRthDaY month over here 👈 Two babies turning 1 & 2 in the next couple weeks so we kicked it off with 1 year photos and a double smash cake. I love a fun theme with a play on words, you’ll see more of those soon, but for these photos I wanted a CLASSIC birthday celebration 🎉 that would suit both kids. You’re here! I’m so excited you decided to stop by and follow along on this creative process with me. I am a fulltime working wife and mom of 2, who was searching for a way to make her son’s first birthday during a pandemic special. Lessssss be honest, the epic first birthday blowout is more for us parents (by parents I mean Mom’s but if you’re a Dad who is, stick around). The first birthday is recognizing that we did it! We kept them alive for a whole year and they’re actually, sort of, thriving.

My son’s first birthday had 4 guests and a semi successful zoom call, the best I could do being 9 months pregnant….yep, you heard right, I was 9 months pregnant. In July. In a pandemic. Celebrating one child’s 1st birthday with one on the way 5 days later. I needed to keep it simple for my sanity and decided a vintage highchair would make a great focal point. Throw in some balloon garland and a few other details and voila! Fast forward to right now, I’m not pregnant but I am getting ready for another 1st birthday and kind of making up for last year at the same time. And of course, my daughter couldn’t use the same highchair as her brother, she needed her own, thus an idea was born.
