The North Carolina Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (NC ACDA) invites applications for choirs to perform at the 2024 Fall Conference, October 4-5 at Queens University in Charlotte, NC.

Our theme this year “Singing our Stories” reflects that our membership encompasses many areas of the choral arts, as such we are looking for performing choirs and repertoire that will speak to the diversity of conference attendees. Choirs of all ages and all voicings are invited to apply to perform. Applicants are asked to consider repertoire representative of a variety of styles and musical traditions, as well as representative of diverse cultures and communities. Repertoire that promotes historically marginalized voices/composers, addresses themes of societal inequalities, and/or promotes cultural competence is strongly encouraged.

Congratulations to Caryn, who sang with us for 7 years!

Music is excited to welcome Dr. Caryn Greco to Wake Forest University !

Dr. Greco will be joining the faculty of as Assistant Professor of Music this fall. Hailed as having a voice “with a rich core and sparkling bloom in its upper register,” Dr. Greco received her Bachelor of Music in Performance and Master of Music in Performance from Appalachian State University. She received her Doctor of Musical Arts in Performance from West Virginia University. She has performed on the operatic and concert stage throughout the United States and Canada and is incredibly excited to join the Wake community!

Get to know Dr. Caryn Greco!🎉

📖Favorite area of research: Music written outside of the main repertoire languages! I'm currently studying art song compositions in the Scandinavian Languages with a focus on Norwegian. Getting to see where my family is from in Norway really connected me to the music of my heritage. I am now fully ensconced in researching the composers and folk music of that country and region. My dissertation was on Brahms’s setting of Ophelia’s mad songs, which was tons of fun to research and perform.

📚Research you'd love to dive into in the future: I would love to study the songs and languages of traditional West African music.

🎼Music you love singing: Anything I am currently working on! Right now it's Faure’s Chanson d’Eve.

🌙Music you want to sing in the future: Going to go with my dream opera roles here, Dvorak’s Rusalka, and Massenet’s Manon or Gounod’s Faust.

🏉Favorite teams: I have to go with the Buffalo Bills and the Demon Deacons 💛🖤

Welcome to Wake, Dr. Greco!
