NEED YOUR HELP!!
Y’all, these two boys just started wrestling last year at WHHS. Neither knew anything about wrestling and have put 100% of themselves into it. Hanging up other sports to become their best by wrestling year round.
Incredibly, this past weekend, they both qualified for the 2023 US Marine Corps Junior & 16U Nationals, in Fargo, North Dakota, a coveted wrestling tournament reserved only for those who qualify.
To my knowledge, they are the first from WHHS to qualify for Fargo, at least in recent years!
John and Zahquel (Z) both want to wrestle in college and making it to Fargo propels that opportunity as most colleges look to Fargo as recruiting grounds!
John will be a first gen college student and Z will be the first college athlete in his family. They both attend school, wrestle AND both have jobs to help with their families, so affording this would be impossible.
Fargo costs around $1500 per wrestler between flights, gear, hotel & tournament fees.
