Despite South Africa boasting a rich tapestry of heritage and culture, less than 15% of the country's overall tourist arrivals comprise cultural tourists. By comparison, between 40% and 50% of tourists to European countries such as France and Italy comprise cultural tourists.

Kamil Abdul-Karrim, MD of Pam Golding Tourism and Hospitality Consulting, opens the final day of with a thought-provoking discussion on the potential for Africa to build compelling narratives about the continent's multitude of cultural and heritage attractions.

These attractions should be thrust to the forefront of tourism marketing through digital storytelling and the targeting of immense untapped markets such as the African diaspora worldwide.

Day 2 of the event centres on Africa's Travel, Tourism and Aviation CEOs and Executives Forum. The first panel discussion is exploring the State of Africa's Visa Openness and its Impact on Destination Africa 2030.

The panel is featuring case studies from Rwanda, Mauritius and the Seychelles, with insights provided by Munetsi, Rwanda Events Group CEO Christian Gakwaya, UN Tourism Africa Director Elcia Grandcourt and AfCFTA Secretariat Trade in Services Expert Daphine Lekipaika.
