We trained back and biceps today. 3 Back exercises and 6 Biceps exercises with weights. It really is not easy. It's hard work but that's what you do if you want to enjoy the benefits of exercise.

If you're looking at my posts and contemplating if you should also start exercising but you don't know where and how. Start walking. You can jog also but walking is enough. When you get back from your walk after about 15 minutes, do dome squats, assisted push ups or some bended knees ab exercises. Bended knees so you dont hurt your back with straight leg exercises. Do those exercises including the walk 3 times a week for 3 to 4 weeks then you can increase it to 5 times a week.

Also change the exercises. Otherwise it will become boring. Drink lots of water during the day and eat smaller and healthier portions of food.

When I took part in tge biggest fight of my life, I was a 16 to 1 underdog. Without telling me anything, my manager and 1 of his friends placed a £30 000 bet at the bookies on me to win. I won the fight but never heard anything about the bet from them. I heard it from other people. Read the full story:

I look back and I'm so grateful for everyone I met in boxing. I would say that one of the highlights of my professional boxing career was being invited to Denmark to spar against Mikkel Kessler. The good thing is I got invited back there about 5 times to spar against Mikkel, Rudy Markussen and other boxers. Around the same year I also got invited to Germany about 4 times to spar against Markus Beyer. The Danish and the Germans really looked after me. They treated me like one of their own. I remember Mikkel Kessler picked me up at the hotel every morning in his own car. He was so friendly. Markus Beyer was a good guy. Neither Mikkel or Markus ever complained about me or the sparring. And we sparred very hard for 2 weeks. I brought war to my sparring sessions. That's why they kept bringing me back to spar. Beyer's coach told me one day "I like your style. Keep being aggressive with Murkus".......https://www.amazon.com/Broken-Dreams-Untold-Ruben-Groenewald-ebook/dp/B00PAME0PO

I was talking to someone. He spoke to a boxing coach about 1 of his boxers who has now lost a few and is basically going nowhere. The boxer has seen better days. He told the coach that his boxer should retire but the coach disagrees. According to the coach, the boxer is still ok. In my time I've only heard a few coaches advising their fighters to retire. Most coaches only care zbiut 💰 and don't care about their boxers that much. As long as that boxer fights, the coach is getting his cut. He needs that money to take his wife out for dinner. As a boxer you need a good Tram including friends and family that csn advise you. It's a team sport. You are alone in the ring but behind the scenes are a lot of people assisting you

Your thoughts??

‼️ The BBBofC and UKAD have WON their appeal against the NADP's decision to lift Conor Benn's suspension/clear him to fight. It was previously claimed that the NADP decision was “focused heavily” on UKAD's inability to rule on VADA tests and did not include an examination of science explaining why clomifene was found in Benn's system. It's currently unclear what next steps will be - whether Benn's suspension will now be reinstated and whether he could have to face fresh hearing.

I could have chosen to remain in South Africa and pursue my boxing career in my back yard but I identified people in my team who did not have my best interests and one of them was a man I looked up to and gave him so much respect, he was my coach. I thought he was the best boxing coach in South Africa and he was but he had a big flaw. I left for England and I saw a whole new world. I truly experienced boxing. I experienced things that boxers should not go through. In my book that I wrote myself, I go in detail about life and about boxing. I have experienced the very good side of boxing.

I keep seeing how fans say boxing is finished. I agree it's not in a great shape. The way to fix boxing is to do away with all the titles. Also do away with all the bribes. Forever IBF president Boby Lee was exposed in taking bribes from a South African promoter.

a Lot of people did not believe in me when I was a 9 year old amateur boxer with asthma. I just kept marching forward. I kept training. I refused to give up. When I was 14 my dad took me to his friend's gym. His friend was a gentleman called Shorty Smook. He was a former professional boxing champion and he was now training professional boxers.

In around 1993 the amateurs were not allowed to train with professional boxers but I did secretly. It helped me a lot. Shorty was training his pro boxers but he had an assistant who helped him. a Guy called Anton van Zyl. This man had a lot of knowledge about boxing and about life. He trained me twice a week in the basement of the Germiston hotel where Shorty's gym was. Follow and like Boxing The Dark Side to read more interesting true stories. When I prepared for the All African games, a coach picked me up every week to go to team training from about 6pm to 7pm. It was more than an hour's drive from my home. I was in matric (final year of school) and it was the final exams of the year. I wanted to study after getting back home.

So this coach was a married man but after every team training session in the West Rand, he would visit a woman for what seemed like an hour. Then we'd drive home for an hour and I got home about 10pm. I was fuming. During our trip overseas I did not want to talk to this guy. I hated him. I went from showing him respect to ignoring him and seeing him as a bad coach. When we cane back to SA he lodgedca complaint against me at the amateur boxing board. I went to the hearing with my parents. They said my parents are not allowed to go into the meeting room. I was young and all I wanted to do was box. I did not tell them about the woman he visited instead of taking me home. I was too young for politics.

They suspended my amateur boxing license for about 10 months. During that time was the Atlanta Olympics. This coach up my amateur career. About 15 years later I arrived in SA and saw one of the amateur coaches. I asked him what happened to bo***ck brain "... ....". This person said that bo***ck brain is out of amateur boxing because he stole money. I asked if he's still married and he said no he's divorced.

When I arrived in England in December 2000, I walked from City Airport to a house in East London. The next day I went to see the guys I'm supposed to meet; Eugene and Frank Maloney. Frank was not there but Eugene was. There was also a boxing coach called Johnny Eames. Johnny was a real East ender. He was born within the sounds of the Bow bells. Eugene and I chatted. He wanted to be my manager and out of nowhere he told me "Boxing is about money, nothing else". I did not know what he meant. I was only 23. Making money from boxing was never my main goal. The next one and a half years was going to educate me on money and on life. I learned some hard lessons at a young age and in a foreign country. Professional boxing has the potential to be the greatest sport but there are many illegal things that go unnoticed. Real bad stuff that the public do not know about. Boxers being short paid, boxers receiving poor treatment from the board of Control. Boxing Trainers and managers stealingbmoney from their own boxers and using forged contracts. The board of Control that is supposed to regulate boxing, are not doing their job. They are also a part of these crimes. That's why I wrote this book and guess what? Big time promoters hate it....See why;

As a professional boxer it is important to have a coach that you can trust. You are putting your life into that coach's hands. You need to trust him with your life.

I had a coach like that. He believed in me and I believed in him. We walked a road together for 3 years with only 1 loss in 3 years. I found out he stole about 80% of my fight purse money in one of my international fights. He also stole my sponsorship money. I have included all the details in my book. Please have a look and let me know your thoughts:

I turned 17 and was now a senior boxer. Up next was the area championships or also known as the Eastern Gauteng senior championships. It was the best boxers in the Eastern area of what used to be known as Gauteng.

The event took place on the Friday night and the Saturday day and evening. Seniors means boxers over the age of 17 and up to 30 something. There were 4 boxers in my weight division so I would have to box twice to win the championships. Becoming the Nationals champion the previous year gave me a lot of confidence, although these boxers were mot boys. They were grown men. I felt good, fit and strong. I prepared properly. On the Friday night I boxed and stopped my opponent in 2 rounds. I was through to the finals where I would be boxing against an experienced and older black gentleman. I don't mean disrespect by saying black guy but apartheid finished a year ago and whites did not box against blacks in apartheid. They had their own championships. I can not remember er his name but he also had a positive attitude. I think he was a bit overconfident. I knew that I was there to win. I could not accept a loss. I'm not being arrogant but it's how I felt. I wanted to destroy.

That Saturday night we boxed and I remember he was a good, slick boxer. He had some good moves but I outscored him. If he landed 2 punches, I would make sure I land 3 or 4 shots. Maybe I was younger and fresher. Who knows, but I was crowned Eastern Gauteng champion. All the hard work paid off. Thanks to my coach Coenie Barkhuizen from the Primrose boxing club.

Up next was the Gauteng championships or the whole provincial championships. Myself and the gentleman I beat in the finals of the Eastern Gautengs were both going through to the Gauteng championships where we would compete against other regional winners. That means more talented and experienced boxers......Stay tuned. Read the full story in my book:
