In 2018/19, only 23% of SA bowls coaches were female.

Many people believe women are incapable of effectively coaching men or boys at any level because they will struggle to get players to respect them. But, women can make incredible coaches because they can be emotionally tough, nurturing, organised, find a balance between competition and character building, make good role models for young female athletes and can be good teachers.
