Bamaga Productions is proud to celebrate Indigenous Business Month! Share this post of Deborah Belyea! NAIDOC Artist and Educator!

This Indigenous Business Month, we proudly celebrate the theme "Making Our Mark" and the incredible impact of Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal businesses.

From the unique cultural knowledge embedded in every venture to the resilient entrepreneurial spirit driving our communities forward, our people are making their mark in industries that matter locally and globally.

This year TSRA celebrated 30 years of supporting economic development in the Torres Strait.

‘The Perfect Pearl’ artwork for the 30-year anniversary was designed by award-winning Samuawgadhalgal artist and this year’s NAIDOC Week poster winner, Deborah Belyea.

As well as being a talented artist, Deb is also ‘making her mark’ as business owner and educator!

Zeyawgub Consultancy provides educational consultative services that are reflective of First Nations perspectives, assisting teachers to become culturally responsive educators.

Zeyawgub services include:

🟢 Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal content, curriculum writing, lesson activities, and recorded presentations utilising First Nations people’s perspective

Bamaga Productions is a full-service content creation, strategy, and events agency. They specialize in arts festivals, event programming, produce digital content, and act as cultural consultants to business, organisations, and governments. Torres Strait Islander woman Nancy Bamaga is the head of Bamaga Productions. She is a community management and cultural development practitioner. Teaming up with Queensland media and TV executive Karen Hanna Miller. These two like-minded businesswomen realised they shared a desire to work on projects that improved cultural understanding and could use their distinctive professional skills and knowledge to create something special.

Although they launched Bamaga Productions during the pandemic, they’re off to a running start. They have created videos for this year’s virtual Mt Isa Mines Rodeo, programmed cultural dance performances for UQ’s NAIDOC Week, and the NRL’s Indigenous round at Suncorp. Nancy says, “I want to encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses to back themselves…we are talented, smart and professional enough to compete with non-Indigenous businesses for mainstream work in the wider corporate world".
Bamaga Production work on both cultural and mainstream content, so if you would like to find out more head to their website 👉🏿www.bamagaproductions.com.au.
