The Greenhouse Art Club will be non-operational during Aug Sept and Oct 2024. Apologies if this causes any inconvenience.

After a wild 6 months and the passing of our beautiful Pop, Graham Turner, we have made the crazy decision to leave everything behind for a while and we're off to Japan!

While we will be spending the next 3 months travelling around Japan with our little family, the GHAC will be on pause.

What does this mean for you?

🌴If I haven't replied to you over the last few weeks, my sincerest apologies.

"We did a clay class for my 25th birthday, it was such a beautiful afternoon! We all made multiple pieces that we can use in our homes, I love that everything we made could actually be used! Everyone loved sitting in the sunshine having a glass of champas and nibbles too. We all agreed we would be back!"

Mums n Bubs Clay Workshops 💚

Are you looking for a fun and creative activity to do where your little one is welcome? Come join the club at our mums n bubs workshop!

Across the term, you’ll learn how to make beautiful clay pieces with complimentary tea, coffee, and biscuits to keep you energised and inspired throughout the workshop.

“It’s the perfect opportunity to bond with your bub, meet other mums in the community, and take home a handmade shop-worthy creation.”

The one-hour workshop runs from 10am every Monday morning. However, you’re welcome to come and go within this time frame as you please so as to suit you and your baby’s needs.

As a mum myself, I know the strains surrounding committing to a ten-week course with such a young one at home. So, I tailored a handful of memberships making it all that much easier for you to sign up.

I prefer "Organic" to "Perfect" 🌻

You'll often hear me say it 😘 Organic art has an inner familiarity, something very fundamental, and essential in our lives.

Here at the GHAC we appreciate and celebrate the natural and organic elements of the pieces we dream up and create. Organic art is rudimentary, it is essential, it’s primordial, supportive and vital. It might express itself in a piece of raku fired ceramic, a collection of twigs, or paint on a canvas, twisted, layered, textured and tortured into place. Organic art is all around us, and has always been a part of our ever changing world.

This stack of plates was created for my darling Father-in-Law, representing his grandchildren and favourite bible verse. I love how the two pieces sit with each other x

5 reasons to play with clay 🖐

Why we choose Clay as our main medium...

1. Refining Motor Skills Through Free Expression

The touch of clay has a natural relaxing quality – it invites us to squeeze it, poke it, pull it and manipulate it in all sorts of interesting ways. Clay provides an opportunity for children to explore their dexterity and strengthen their large and fine motor skills while they are enjoying themselves.

2. Increasing Creative Problem Solving Skills, Flexibility and Decision Making

Clay is unique from other art mediums because unlike painting or drawing, it develops an understanding of the three dimensional world. Working with clay also requires the ability to adapt to change as the limitations of the medium are discovered. We improve their creative problem solving skills by experimenting with different building techniques, seeing how tall a piece can go before it will become unsteady, and understanding how to combine the visual form of the piece and the function of it.

3. Expressive Therapy

Working with a tactile and responsive medium like clay can be calming for children and adults alike. Manipulating the clay freely can be an outlet for expressing emotions physically in a healthy and constructive way. If children have trouble expressing themselves verbally, clay can be an especially useful tool to convey ideas and emotions.

4. Growing Self-Esteem

To create something out of nothing is empowering. Shaping clay is easy, and working with a material that is so easy to directly mold can increase the person’s sense of control. After the clay piece is finished and fired, you will feel accomplished to have created something so complete.

5. Imagination and FUN!

The Greenhouse Art Club encourages you to get messy and to be as creative and silly as you would like to be. Working with clay you are allowed to experiment and create while working directly with your hands. Playing with clay stimulates the imagination while working constructively and ending up with a satisfying product that will be cherished.

We love Clay and get so darn excited to see you grow and create through our workshops!

The Greenhouse Art Club (finally) presents...

After-School Clay Club! YAAAYYY 🎉

We are extremely excited to be offering After School Clay Workshops for your little ones!

But here is the general gist...

TERM 2 2023

Age 6-10: Tuesdays 3:30pm Weekly (Week 5-10)
Age 11-15: Thursdays 4pm Weekly (Week 5-10)

TERM 3 2023

Age 6-10: Tuesdays 3:30pm Fortnightly (Starting Week 1)
Age 11-15: Tuesdays 4pm Fortnightly (Starting Week 2)

Children will build and experiment with some smaller air-dry works before completing a larger clay piece that will then be fired. We will use local and well-known artists for inspiration and artist study.

PRICES
Classes are 1 hour lessons

Age 6-10: $26/lesson | $130/term
Age 11-15: $30/lesson | $150/term

Your $100 Creative Kids Vouchers are ACCEPTED! Vouchers will be accepted for Term 3 bookings and Term 4 Pre-bookings when full payment is received prior to June 30 2023.
