💭 of a DIY wedding to save 💴 and avoid the constraints of an established venue?
without a doubt some of the most beautiful, unique and fun weddings I’ve ever been at have been DIY (ie hosted in a paddock/temporary marquee/unused shed)… but believe me, it’s not for the faint hearted and the costs usually well exceed those of (some) venues. whether it serves as a reality check or a checklist, here’s some things you might need to consider, if you’re taking on the great DIY:
〰️ furniture (like all of it. from chairs and tables to bars and benches, couches and signing tables)
〰️ marquee (for guests and maybe for your catering team, too)
〰️ cutlery and crockery
〰️ glassware
〰️ water (drinking and washing)
〰️ alcohol and other drinks
〰️ lighting
〰️ power/generator
〰️ cool room
〰️ skip bin
〰️ rubbish bins
〰️ ice buckets
〰️ ice
〰️ catering equipment (hot boxes, seperate cool rooms, extra furniture, fryers, etc)
〰️ sound systems
〰️ flooring
〰️ toilets (and toilet paper, hand towels, etc)
〰️ heating
〰️ cooling
〰️ guest transport or accommodation
〰️ wedding planner or coordinator (I know you’ll say I’m biased, but this is essential if you want to enjoy your wedding)
plus more. don’t get caught unprepared, save this to check over throughout the planning or let me know if I can help! 🤷🏽♀️
